On a side note... that's actually what I found so odd about the legion. They're terribly contradictory with the phrase "profligate" and this is plainly seen at their war-camps. And when you take it to the context of the Roman Empire... it seems they just took a story that caesar told them and decided to become the new Romans without fully understanding what exactly happened to them, or the basis of their beliefs.

Profligate dosent necessarily mean whore, but a whore is a profligate. The adjective of it means "waste" and the noun of it basically means "filthy" in the same way that a whore is filthy. So when the Legion calls someone a profligate they are either calling them a waste of life or a degenerate. Also with the Rome thing, I think the Legion only adapted the military point of the Roman Empire and not the society part, since the Legion dosent really have a society, just one big army. Enslavement, crusifictions, beheadings, ect are primarily what the Roman military did, so it makes sense the Legion would try and mimic.

She said it is both an adjective and a noun. However the way they are using it - makes use of the noun meaning. English grammar is a pain like that .

Fallout New Vegas also had a number of jokes that were a play on grammatical errors.

The Big Empty got it's name for the sign being incorrect. The sign for big mountain says "BIG MT" and not "BIG MT." which is how it became called "Big Empty". Because MT would be pronounced literally as M-T

And a few of the character interactions were spawned from such a thing.

Then again... it's also possible that the Legion are using the word to describe a man with poor grammar. Which... surprisingly the Legion has the most complete use of it.
