I've made a decision! I'm going to get one, and I'm going to get a tag with my name on it and my partner's phone number.
Also, in other news, my partner is now an otherkin! Hopefully I can persuade her to join Furry Forums  ^_^

It really depends, both leather and nylon can be itchy, get sticky, etc. Leather just looks cooler, nylons just floopy. You can try out your dogs collar, no problem.
