these are a good start Drake. The improvements are good, and keep practicing, and you'll get better.

INCOMING CRITIQUE!!!!!!!:

The ears a bit high on the head, the head needs a more... circular shape, the muzzle is too long, and it should only go up to about halfway up the head.

The eyes look good, though!

I highly recommend sketching using RL photos of animals as reference. Using real animals as reference instead of other artists' drawings is better because not only do you not get accused of stealing others' art, but no matter how good an artist is, drawings are stylized and can very easily contain anatomy mistakes (even if you can't notice it). Real animal photos will always have correct anatomy to learn from, and you can create your own style based on correct anatomy.

As for critique, you can probably spot some of your own mistakes if you compare your wolf head drawing with a real wolf picture:

The head is a bit too oval-shaped; the eyes shouldn't be quite so round and should be placed closer to the middle of the face; the ears are a little too thin and pointy; the nose is a little small and the lips should be wider instead of tall; some of the facial fluff on the side of the head would also help.

Don't be afraid to go back and revise a drawing after you receive critique, and ask for critique again to see how you do with improvements to the same drawing.

understood loud and clear, I'm just getting a feel for some of the techniques but I'll definitely give that a try

tried Zephyr's practice technique and tried a red fox sketch, I gave him a collar too! I made sure to make the muzzle slender like in the RL photo but I think I may have made it a bit too long :/

Not bad. I think you did better on the proportions by looking at the drawing. The muzzle is indeed a little long, and there should be a more gentle slope where it meets the head. The ear in front ought to be bigger, but you did better about rounding the tips of the ears this time too.

might want to work on the dimmensions of the eyes. yiurs look like it's on the exact side of the head, not in front like on a foxes. just take a closer look at the ref to see.

i apologise if I sound a little harsh, but nice words don't make a good artist. they do make a good author though.

I want to get active in here.   :3

In each of the art classes I've taken, there's been two very basic elements to drawing:  line control, and composition.  There's more complex elements like perspective and shading, but those two are at the very base.

Line control is something that just happens with practice, and goes away without practice even if you're a good artist!  It's that muscle memory thing.  Basically it's just your ability to draw the lines and shapes you want, smoothly, and not wobble by accident, or get odd shapes you're not trying to draw.  The first book I had on drawing assumed line control would develop and started teaching with simple shapes, focusing on composition.  Later classes actually had excercises for line control, including drawing long lines across a page trying to remain as straight as possible, and drawing circles, trying to end up as close to a perfect circle as possible.

Then there's composition.  That's just your understanding of what things look like, and how to copy that onto paper.  You'll notice as you draw more that you can start taking things apart with your eyes, seeing basic shapes inside them and how they fit together, almost like seeing the gears of a machine.  It's kind of cool, it just happens gradually as you practice more.  This too gets rusty without practice (as I have experienced repeatedly XD )

I sketched up an example page.  This was pretty fun to do.  It's not perfect, I'm not happy with the boxy-foxy, but the circles one is ok.  And I've always enjoyed stacking cubes in strange arrangements.  Especially when you switch up the perspective and create impossible geometry.   :P
Spoiler for Hidden:

I'm still working on regaining skill myself.  But with some simple tools, it gets easier.  Plus it's fun to screw around with, like those simple little 2d physics games.   :3

Using real references is awesome too.  But when you can see simple shapes inside them, it's even better!

Hope this helps!

I do agree, I've started taking every drawing I see apart to see how they do it and developing some line control :3 I've been using a lot of references as I practice to develop style :D

Just quickly wanted to say kudos to you for taking the time to ask for help and critique, and not taking criticism too personally. I'm glad if I've been able to help with some things. Keep practicing! ^^
