Another Nightmare (Sapphire)
« on: October 24, 2016, 06:34:33 AM »
The sheets of rain were relentless as Sapphire padded her way up the stone steps to the back door of the brick building. Something about this place seemed familiar to the fox, but she could not quite put a finger on it. Something about the exterior décor reminded her of a long-forgotten memory. One that she kept shoved into the back of her mind for years. Whatever this building was, she wanted to get out of this rain. It suddenly started pouring when she turned down this peculiar street. Not a minute into it and she was soaked right down to the bone, the nipples of her breasts poking out against her shirt. It was embarrassing, but there was nothing she could do about it now.                Shaking from the numbing cold of the rain, she clenched her hand into a fist and pounded on the large iron door. Instantly she regretted it because it made her entire already aching hand hurt. She yelped in pain and rubbed her sore hand. Fortunately, it was enough because she could hear footsteps on the other side. The large creaky lock slid open and the door creaked slowly open. The door sounded like it had rusted quite badly and was starved of oil for years. Her eyes were treated to sprawling darkness and there was a shadowy figure, and it beckoned her to enter with long spindly fingers. The first thing to pop into her head was to not trust this figure and instantly run away, but she desperately wanted to get out of this rain and this might be her only chance for a while.
She stepped inside and the iron door closed behind her with a loud clang. Instantly, the hallway lit up and her heart sank. She stood right in the hallway of Pool Inspuh's Ladies, the strip club she used to be a part of. Out of all places, why did she have to take shelter in this one? Slumping her shoulders, she began to walk down the hall to see if there was any place she could hide in until the rain passed. Before she could do so, however, a distressed-looking poodle happened upon her. Upon making eye contact, her expression softened and strode over toward Sapphire. In her hand was a tiny swimsuit, no bigger than to fit a child's doll into it. Her mouth began to move, forming words that Sapphire could not hear. It was as if she was speaking, but someone turned the volume down. Sapphire twitched her tail angrily. She had no time for these games. When the poodle was finished speaking her muted words she frantically pointed toward a nearby room and hurried away urgently, leaving her alone once again.
Not at all willing to attempt to try this toy dress on because she knew it would be impossible to do so, she decided explore a bit. She made her way over to the closest room that was not what the poodle pointed out. She was not here to work. She was here to take shelter.
Coming to the first door she came to, she turned it slowly as to make sure it was not locked. It wasn't, so she opened it slowly and slipped inside. She figured this could be her place to hide from all the club's employees at least until the storm passes. When she shut the door behind her she found herself in a darkened living room. Just enough light spilled through the windows so she could see where she was at once her eyes adjusted to the darkness.
The living room was furnished with a taste of class. A rich velvety sofa was pushed into one corner of the room with ornately decorated throw pillows on it. Near it was a black leather recliner chair with a woven blanket hanging over the back. In front of them was a wood table, the surface being a glass pane. There were two coffee tables on either side of the sofa and recliner and each had a drink coaster and a small vase with a single red rose.
Realizing she was wasting her time admiring the living room, she decided to explore the rest of this house. She wandered into the kitchen and found normal appliances normally found in kitchens: a refrigerator, counters, microwave, oven, and so on. The dining room held a large square oak table with four wooden chairs pushed in, two per side. On the edge of the kitchen was a sliding glass door, which she assumed to lead to the back yard, somewhere she would explore later.
She passed a couple of closets on her way toward the back of the house and past an uninteresting bedroom to find a set of carpet-covered stairs. As she began to climb them, she could hear a faint nose. Listening closer and straining to hear what it was, she determined it to be a TV or radio tuned into a station that was broadcasting static. She finished climbing the stairs and wandered down the hallway, the static sound growing louder. Passing a closet and bathroom, she emerged in what she assumed to be the master bedroom. In it was a king-side bed covered in a green comforter and sheet set, an armoire, a set of dressers, a closet, and another set of dressers with a plain TV on it. The room was illuminated by the static emitting from the TV. Being near the source of the sound, the static was quite loud, and Sapphire gritted her teeth in pain from the noise. As she moved closer to turn it off, she could see a little square object attached to the screen. She leaned closer to examine the object and found that it was a sticky note. On it was written one word in a thick black permanent marker:
RUN
The instant she read and comprehended the message, the TV suddenly turned itself off, plunging the room in total darkness because the light of the TV screwed up her night vision. As the blind fox flailed around in the darkness, her ears perked up when she heard a quiet creaking noise coming from behind her. It sounded like it was coming from the armoire. When it stopped creaking, she could hear faint whisperings. The whisperings were incomprehensible to her, but she did not want to find out anyway. She also did not want to turn around, yet she found herself turning on the spot. What her eyes met was perhaps the most terrifying thing she had ever seen in her life:
Sapphire screamed and ran as fast as her legs could carry her, clipping painfully against the side of the doorframe. Cursing in pain, she continued to run down the hallway, the whisperings growing louder. She looked behind her every few seconds only to be greeted with the sight of that... thing in hot pursuit. The face never changed expression; it just stared at her with those glowing eyes and that terrifying smile. No matter how fast she ran, it seemed to pick up speed, and she was losing distance. Once back downstairs, she tore through the hallway, kitchen, and living room and attempted to yank the door she came through open. It didn't budge.
Cornered, she backed against the wall, the face slowly drifting toward her. It was as if it knew it had her cornered, and it was just closing in for the kill. With another scream, she suddenly broke right and slipped right past it back into the living room. The whisperings were painfully loud as she passed very near to it and it had a very cold chill around it. She tore through the living room and into the kitchen, remembering the sliding glass door. She tugged at it with all her might and it would not budge either. Her ears prickling at the sound of the growing whisperings, she grabbed one of the chairs from the dining room and threw it at the door, shattering the glass. She lept through the hole she made just as the face reached the spot she was standing not two seconds before. She sprinted through what was in fact the back yard and, panting with fear and fatigue.
Still the whisperings persisted and it was in hot pursuit. Twice she almost tripped as she ran with reckless abandon. Soon, she noticed there was a fence that appeared on either side of her, flying past her as she ran. The tall wooden fence seemed to get narrower and narrower until she finally was forced to stop right at a dead end. There was fence on three sides of her, and the whispering was right behind her.
With a gulp and a whine of fear, she slowly turned around to see the face floating there, motionless. It didn't even bob like most flying object do in movies and cartoons. The think was just... there. Painfully still.
Then it started to move closer. This time there was no escape. The whisperings grew louder, accompanied by static. It inched nearer and nearer. Centimeter by centimeter. Sapphire whimpered huddled around herself, bracing for what was to come. The thing stopped not a foot in front of her, its whisperings painfully loud.
She barely had enough time to scream as it suddenly darted toward her and she was lost in the darkness, never to be seen again.
