"So... am I nowhere? is this purgatory or something?" He threw his arms up, sighing, and muttering "Great. stuck in purgatory with miss dense deadpan."

She glanced down at the floor. That wasn't very nice. She wondered briefly why he had made the assumption before almost brightening, looking up and asking:
"Would you rather be somewhere else?"

"yes." he said, nodding "A snowy forest." he let out a small chuckle "always liked the silence there. and of course, the cold is a little fun too. Just... give me some winter clothes, or something." He gave the deadpan girl a pat on the head "and can ya liven up a bit?"

The white are slowly developed textures - the white surfaces became wet and more rough as greens, browns, blues and other required colours and textures bled into that reality. The temperature dropped slowlx but it oddly failed to effect the two.
"What do you mean, 'liven up a bit'? My body is already working at the levels required to keep me alive. For some reason the word 'Canada' comes to mind. Does this bear any signifigance?"

He looked around the snowy pine forest, a smile on his face."Liven up means... like... get a bit more expressive." he moved his hands around, trying t come up with a gesture before giving up and just dropping them to his side. "Canada is a state, right? is this place taken from there or something?"

"I don't know."
She adjusted her footing and stared floppy-eared at the snow on her bare feet. She was not used to feeling much at all, only still air or smothness. This was strange. She glanced at him.
"Canada is a state...?"

"er... no, country. sorry." he  chuckled lightly "like, a buncha people grouped together, like a bunch a bunch. like... thirty five million."

     "It cannot be." She said listlessly; almost sadly.

"and... why is that?" Barrett shot the girl a confused glance "did... something happen?"

"No. Nothing ever happens here. No one ever visits here. How can this place be a Canada if you are the only one here?" She knelt down and played with the snow. It wasn't cold. But to her, without having ever known what cold was before she could only guess that it wasn't entirely right.

"well... that..." He gave her a pat on her head, shrugging "why not? am I the first?"

     She blinked at him - the indicator of ignorance. One thing was becoming clear: she might be the sole inhabitant of the area but she was far from being in control of it. She leaned into the pats as she toyed with the snow.
     "Who are you?" She murred as Barrett scratched a soft spot behind her ears.

"Thomas Naismith. I..." He paused a moment, brow furrowed "I uh... Can't remember what I did." He turned a moment, spouting some words that most definitely weren't PG-13, kicking at the snow "can't remember what the hell I did!"

"Maybe it will come back." The girl offered. A strange squishy gurgling noise made itself apparent. She looked down, then tugged on Barrett's shirt. "My stomach hurts."

"right... You seem to be hungry. can you change this to a restaurant or something? that'd be great. they make food there." He offered the child a smile, going back to petting her head
