That sounds fun! ^_^ I also just got back from something - not having MY throne!  >:3

I've been on-off doing Japanese for about six years! I can read pretty durn well these days, but I've only started taking it proper-seriously about four months ago, give or take. I'm at about an 6-year-old's level.. Which, if you think about it, makes sense - that's how long a 6-year-old has been learning the language, too -laugh-
That seems interesting! I feel like it would be difficult learning a whole new alphabet though, so don't be too hard on yourself.  ^_^

You mean MY throne?!

Oh, I wasn't being hard on myself at all - it's actually a point of pride amongst people who learn the language  XD XD it's two alphabets, Kanji and Kana - Kanji are unique symbols (sort of) that make up of entire words, and there are about 3000 in common use; so that's 3000 logographs to learn. The other alphabet, Kana, is made up of two syllabaries - which are what it sounds like, syllables - you have one set for native words, and one set for loan words. Kana is -way way way- easier to learn, you can imagine - I learnt both sets in one week, and I know about 300 kanji?  :? Which is way more than it sounds! If you imagine a 6-year-old has been immersed in the language for six years, learning to read and write - to be on that level without being as deeply immersed is impressive, no?  XD

My goodness, you've successfully made French seem easy to learn!  :o

That's incredible! :D I don't know what else to say in all honesty...

MY THRONE!!!!

C'est la vie~

It's taken me long enough! Well, I reckon anybody could learn Kana in a week or two - it's pretty easy, once you get down to it. And so exciting, because then it unlocks a lot of the written language, if you can just learn how the spoken language fits in together - without having to learn the full common-use kanji -- each unique kanji has its' own readings - two readings, typically - which can be spelt out in kana - you have to read it out loud somehow, after all! They tend to do this for childrens' media - check it out the next time you see a flyer or poster in Japanese, for a childrens' property! The more complex symbols will probably have smaller symbols ontop - that's the kana reading!

There, I let you have it back for a few hours!  0:)

It's a lot of work learning Japanese, but it's also a lot of fun, if you have reason to learn it  :3

Thank you!  ^_^ I am forever in debt to you. :)

if you have reason to learn it  :3
Maybe when I have an excuse (and if I have enough money) to go to Japan, I'll give it a shot! Could be interesting to learn a whole new alphabet system after all.  :nerd:

And now I'll have it back, ta!  :D

Funnily enough, I've found plenty to do with Japanese, before I even consider traveling to Japan! Though, of course, I'd love to go  ^_^ I was actually chatting something like that with a friend of a friend at Sonic Symphony who said that he had no reason to keep up with Japanese, now that he was no longer in Japan.
It feels like everything I am interested in, I benefit from what I've learnt! Whether it's my favourite comics and manga, shows & tv & anime -- or to a deeper extent, the fanbases of those properties -- I always find myself busy! I've made a few friends who speak Japanese only, because we are fans of the same thing - it's not always a Japanese property, sometimes it's a Japanese fan who is coming to a British property, and is delighted that we can somewhat chat  XP

I get to read so much additional content, for the things I like, too - but sometimes that's a curse - because it can take them years to translate these things! There's finally an official translation of RockMan San (Mr. Megaman), which has been available in Japanese for since 2021 -- Which is a bit silly -- but the Robot Masters are incredible in that one, so I'm glad to see more people can read it  <3
I'm still waiting for them to translate the One Piece Magazine's Trafalgar Law novel... And this one gag manga they did about a boy in our world who looks like Coby, which is just jokes about people who look like One Piece characters  XD XD XD It's SO funny! But also Japanese-exclusive! Raaaah!

Perhaps I have an excuse to start reading manga now... To learn Japanese of course!  XD

I didn't know there was Mega Man manga!  :o It could be a good place for me to start reading manga! Do you have a reading list or anything else that can give me a rough reading order?

Sorry, I think you just took *my* throne?  :3

I didn't know there was Mega Man manga!  :o It could be a good place for me to start reading manga! Do you have a reading list or anything else that can give me a rough reading order?

Oh, oh! There are a few! But the best place to start would be the Archie Comics, written by Ian Flynn, which you can read all of here - https://grabber.zone/comics/mega-man/ - Sadly, it was never finished, and ends just before MegaMan 4 . . .

Or, if your heart is set on manga, the MegaMix Manga by Ariga Hitoshi is FANTASTIC, which you can read part of here! https://archive.org/details/mega-man-megamix-ch-1/Megamix%20Vol.1/Vol.1%2C%20Ch.1/Pg55.jpg

Mr. MegaMan is a spinoff one set in the near future, but it's gonna be fun to see it in English  XD aaand.. Why do I feel like at this rate, we ought to get a Mega Man thread going?!?  XD XD XD

Why do I feel like at this rate, we ought to get a Mega Man thread going?!?  XD XD XD
Because we should!  ^_^ Question is, who's going to start it and where? :?

I mean, I don't think my glorious fursona (if you can even call it that lol) has arms, or legs, so the better question is: can I even run at all?  :?

Or maybe it just levitates above me or something idk.  :P
