The Great Hair Debate
« on: May 16, 2011, 12:40:05 AM »
Quick small little insignificant rant:
my parents are absolutely insane about my hair. When I first started to do it myself and give it my own style they protested and they force me to get the ugliest haircuts ever...and they tell the barber what THEY want, not what I want.
I'm almost 18 years old and I'm still being treated like a little kid when it comes to hair. Today my mom told me that my hair looks "horrible" and "ugly" even though I've gotten tons of compliments on it. She wanted to force me to get another one of the ugly haircuts and when I said no, she threatened to kick me out of the house. Doesn't this seem well a bit...extreme?

Totally depends on your haircut really. What does it look like exactly?

What you could do is ask for the money to go cut it yourself. A normal barber would cut it somewhat "normal", but you could direct it so it looks like you want.

I actually do that now, but my mom sends me back and makes me pay out of my own pocket if it's not what she wants.

That's not bad at all, I think. Nothing extraordinary like say, Kaprika. (Which is awesome, by the way.)

I guess it could need a slight trim, in my opinion. Just to show your eyes better and get rid of the frizzy tips.
Humans like to be able to see the eyes of whoever they interact with. Makes them more safe and trustworthy.

Or! You can do what I do and change your hair entirely. My hair is usually about your length or a little shorter. I always change my style because I feel like it. Faux hawks, pointy bangs, combed to the side, etc. I go to the same place every time and she likes to be creative and take a challenge.

Drake I is in the same position with my parents and my hair. I'm finally starting to let my hair grow out and the only way I get my parents off my back is combing it to the side so it doesn't look "ugly" to them >.>
Mavericks are a blight of the world, and its my job to eradicate them.

I wouldn't mind being able to get the hairstyle I want... but that is besides the point.

Kanga, don't join the military if you like your hair that much. That's probably one of the first things to go and one of the things you will miss.

Oh man, I know what you mean. I like my hair long and messy. My parents tell me to cut it, I tell them "I don't want to look like everyone else." My parents tell me to brush it, I tell them "I don't want to look like a girl." And when my parents style my hair for me, they make me look like the captain of the S.S. Total DORK. I like my hair long cause I think it looks cool, and I like it messy cause it looks masculine when it's messy.

We fight, we recruit, we are the anthropomorphic army. FDF forever!
