I hope I'm not coming off too much as a hippie, but given the problem being running out of space to build roads on, fossil feuls becoming more expensive, and the decay of the envirement, in general, ride comfort, and having to sit in the rain, is one of the lesser problems I'd worry about...

And, besides, they have designed motorcycles with a canopy, and heating, a car-like seat, and all that stuff... Soo if you're into that...

But yeah, transport is a big problem in general...

Well, still... One of the reasons motorcycles are soo dangerous to drive is because they're vurnable to cars...

Soo, if everybody drove a motorcycle, they would be safer. And then it would actually be really viable.

That's not entirely true. There are many other factors why driving a motorbike is a lot unsafer. Sure, they are vunerable to cars, but why do you think you don't see any of them during the winter? The drivers aren't simply cold, they have very good clothing to protect them from the cold.
They are driving only two wheels. If it's wet, if there is ice on the road, oil, or anything else, it is much more dangerous to a motorbike driver than a person driving a car or any other 4-wheeled vehicle.
If one of the tires blow up, it's also much more dangerous than if one of the four wheels blow up from a car.
Etc. etc.

Spoiler for I probably got a bit ranty here:

I'm just going to mention at random that when I leave enough space between myself and the car ahead to allow me to break unexpectedly and a motorbike cuts in because they can physically fit I get annoyed.


Or when a bike passes on the inside edge of the inside lane because traffic is slow.


Or when a bike pulls out to overtake even though the queue of traffic goes on forever and then have to push in when oncoming traffic happens.


Seriously? Do they think they are special?


There are certainly lots or ignorant and arrogant car drivers but I wouldn't say the proportion is different from the wider population.  There are just lots of ignorant and arrogant people in general.


I just can't say that for motorbikes.  There is an over representation of people who think the rules don't apply to them.


So either bikes attract assholes or they make people assholes or both.

So I guess what I'm saying is maybe there are other factors which make them dangerous.

Hmmm...

I've personally never attempted any "Dickish manouvres" what-so-ever. Rather, I find that other people, in cars, attempt "dickish manouvres" at me, because they think it'll physically fit.

But, perhaps, that's because I drive an antique little cupcake, rather than some over-preforming Japanise piece of stuff...

It's even MORE annoying when cars do that stuff.  I mean bikes do actually fit!

I don't think so. This seems like something that just sorta randomly came up...

And, yeah, it's especially annoying when cars to that to bikers, because bikers have the tendency to die if cars make a little judgement error during such manouvres.

Before I got my drivers license I had ridden my pushbike in traffic for years.  It certainly gave me a healthy respect for how easy it is to get killed by someone else's little mistake.
