While incorrect by true writing terms, it is a commonplace acceptance on the internet that the asterisk marks action when surrounding text. It is acceptable, and despite its technical incorrectness, it is used in the accepted sense to represent action. So therefore, the point is moot - the asterisks make no difference in this case.

Not to mention, I said grammatical errors, not punctuation or symbol errors.

Did you misread when I said "internet accepted?" Two asterisks surrounding text when between goers of forums, youtube, and other mediums is considered a mark of action. Whereas one asterisk marking before or after something is generally a correction of something previous misspelled or incorrect.

When used in technical spreads, such as warning lists, terms of use and so on, then the asterisk marks such a thing. I am referring to the interpersonal commune with the asterisk, not the legal and/or technical use of the symbol.
