Anyone like to meditate?
« on: February 03, 2019, 03:49:08 PM »
I recently bought a subscription to headspace, and I'm now meditating regularly. I'm hoping this will lead to me being able to wait out bad feelings without needing to go and write angry but mostly civil letters to people I haven't forgiven.

Most of what is advised involves sitting upright and counting breaths. There's also picturing an orb of light moving from one end of your length to the other and filling up with lots of sunshine. Since starting about three weeks ago, I have lost the need to have YouTube on as background noise.

Does anyone else like to meditate? If so, how do you do it?

What did the toilet say to the bath tub?

"I'm hungry for an apple."

I ought to add that meditation doesn't just involve sitting down and trying to learn to concentrate. A lot of it involves changing your relationship with your thoughts and feelings. In fact, I've come up with my own kinds of meditations, such as imagining the bed lifting off the ground and flying.

I used to. During my collegiate run, I was going through a bit of a blue period. Couldn’t talk to my family, real bad thoughts, et cetera. So, I started using my free time to center myself and refocus. I started perceiving some kinda inner voice, I think. I can’t remember what exactly it said, but it wasn’t good. My mother and stepfather’s place was real bad juju. Mom even tried burning sage to clear the house. But, I didn’t want to invite something in unconsciously, so I put the kabosh on meditation. Nowadays I just Zen out at work. Y’know, work without working and so on.

Not sure if this mediation or not, but at night I like to lie on the covers before I go to sleep and just close my eyes and think. Think about the past, the future, the present - whatever, you know? Just something to help me wind down after a busy day. I think about what I plan to do, or even just my feelings of the day. Maybe I was too angry at dinner so now I just calm myself, reel my emotions back in and start fresh again tomorrow.

I do that too ros!

It's actually one of my favourite parts of day, I'm actually kind of so addicted to it that I usually set my alarm 2 hours before I get up so I can do this kind of daydreaming. I dunno, I daydream a lot.
