I Find It Extremely Hard To Make Friends

So here it is...As the topic suggests, I really do find it hard to make friends, especially online as it's the only real contact that I have with people outside of work.  The people I do know, I can only really call them aquaitances.
It's rare that people really contact me and talk and get to know me.  It's got to the stage where I really don't know what to do anymore.  Sure, I'm not the most outspoken person in the world, but even so, I'm very loyal and stand by those I consider friends no matter what.

The best thing is to get to know many people very well by talking to them and trying to find common interests. If you want to make an acquaintance a friend I guess you have to connect with them more so getting to know them from interacting is important. Sometimes I find its easier to talk to people in groups to begin with and then talk to them one on one. Other times you find someone you think is nice and you can start talking to them. It's hard but its always good to talk to people anyway I think whether they be close or not.

I hear you. Truth to be told, I find it hard too. Both IRL and online, though online is a lot less hard. But we don't even need many friends. Having one best friend I can tell almost anything is a lot better to me than having ten I know only a little bit.

Making friends takes time. Talk to each other, do stuff together, find common interests... You need trust and patience to let a friendship grow. And of course, with one person you'll be able to become better friends than with the other. But don't let that stop you from trying. Good luck!

Thanks guys And yeah, I hear ya on that one Michen.  It's been a long time since I had a best friend.  Long story short, they all turned their backs on me after I moved to the US and since coming back to England, I've not had any, apart from like I said, the aquaintances that I've met online. 
And don't worry, I never give up

A few years ago I was really shy and I had trouble making friends because of this.
I tackled this issue by talking to people, just listening to what they say and slowly but surely I got better at making friends.

All I can really say is actually talk to people or type to them or whatever medium you are using for communication.


Because you never meet folk if you don't talk to them.

I remember when we met that we kinda instantly got along, and honestly that's just cuz of who you were as a person
Seems cheezy but 'be who you are and people will find you' but it's how we met so it's got some truth to it
I think exposure is a key part in it, and now that you're a mod you're in a better position to meet new people and stuff, so I'd say just keep being Shadow because no one else can

I have a feeling my accent will stand out like a sore thumb  But yeah, I remember it too just got on straight away, which rarely happens with me for the most part

I've had difficulty making friends as well.
I mean, I had one or two, but... you know... they weren't going to the same school as I was and other things like so.
Anyways, making friendships takes a lot of time, especially lasting friendships. If you're someone like me who has moved all over the place, it's even harder to keep the friendships. Staying in touch is easier with the telephone and internet, but... it's not the same, and usually friendships will diminish over time unless they're very... special(?) in a way.

That aside, even if you might like to be friends with people, you indeed need to be (at least somewhat) social.
Even if you want to be friends with shy people yourself, someone needs to start the conversation at some point
