It REALLY urks me when people don't use punctuation, capitals, or correct grammar/spelling. Most people would call me a grammar Nazi, but I don't really correct them. I just kind of silently go about my business. But for everyone who cares to listen, I'm going to list off the reasons I think those things are important. Warning: Healthy doses of sarcasm.
1. It's disrespectful.
If you don't want to take the time to hold down shift or, if you're on a phone, press the caps lock while you're typing, then why are you here? Why don't you want to spend the two extra seconds it takes to make it easier for us to read?
2. It makes people think you're five years old.
I've seen quite a few people who I thought were around five or six years old because they had bad grammar, didn't use punctuation, etc. I saw a picture of them, and they were like 25! I'm not out of high school yet, and I have better grammar than you. It's at least excusable when you're 10, but not if you have an education above mine.
3. It's irritating.
This one is self explanatory, but I'll explain it anyways, because this is my rant. I inwardly groan every time I see a post that says something resembling this:
i really like that too. its really good that they did that
Now, there's many things wrong with this, but how did it make you feel when you read it? I had to force myself just to write it. Besides the fact that I only used punctuation when I absolutely HAD to end a sentence, I didn't capitalize any of it or put the apostrophe in 'its'. I can forgive the apostrophe mistake, since it's a mistake plenty of people make. But come on, how hard is it to press the period button one more time, to hold shift twice, and to refrain from using the word "that" three times in two sentences?
Anyways, that's my rant. Comment if you like, I don't mind. But if you use bad grammar on a comment you can bet your *insert valuable thing here* that I'll correct you.
