Humans and other intelligent species
« on: November 09, 2015, 08:27:37 PM »
So,I've been thinking about this scenario for a while now.

To make it short and simple...have you ever imagined that humans were but only one of MANYYY intelligent species.Oh yes,you know exactly what I mean, what if humans and anthros existed in the same world.Self explanatory. Now for the details :).

Let's say that variants (anthro characters, that is how I like to call them,so many varieties) have BOTH intelligence and their animal species traits/benefits.

My opinion is,well,it wouldn't end good for my race (I know that we are all humans in real life, well not Therians, you get the point).
Why,you ask? That is simple....My race (humans) has no natural traits or weapons...You guessed it,no claws,no natural camouflage,no night vision eyes etc.In real world,we don't need natural traits other than intelligence to be dominant, science makes up for that.Don't have claws? No problem, use a knife.Too dark?Use night vision goggles...etc.

In real life, humans are dominant. In this scenario,we are prey for the stronger races to hunt down. What is your opinion?Would humans be slaves, exterminated or will they somehow manage to take a step ahead in technology and take advantage of others?

In a world where there exist a lot of intelligent races, where would we belong? Will humans be greedy, warlike and inferior like in real life or will humanity be more obedient and nicer because of fear? What kind of stereotypes would other races create for humans? How to adapt to such an environment?

Ok,so we already established that all other races posses the most important trait of all, intelligence. They can all use and understand technology, they can all speak and read etc.
It is now established that humans are the only ones that need technology to be equal with other races. Is it for the best of everyone else?

Let's count out our only positive traits and compare it to the many traits of other races.

Humans:Omnivore diet, can self sustain body temperature, can see all colors, has no fur (good in some occasions),civilized for the most part.

Variants:Better night vision, faster moving running and jumping speed and efficiency, great hearing and smelling range, has fur and extra body parts, not so imperialistic and warlike etc.

Humans have a LOT more negative traits like envy,greed,imperialism,ignorance...hat fairly outnumber the positive traits of variants.
Every trait has a bad side,a good one too.For example, great smelling or hearing distances may be very great and usefull, but with one fatal flaw. You can't turn it off.I know that dogs know how it feels,oh that great smell of a junkyard two blocks away.Or worse!Imagine walking throughout New York in the time of rush hour, with giant elephant ears!Sheesh!I can't imagine such torture :o!

All these traits,of course, depend on the animal race like mentioned before with dogs.

Behaviour of different races may originate from their diet.Maybe herbivores like rabbits would be more calm nature oriented while carnivores may be more imperialistic.

Not to mention that variants would be better in combat because of their natural traits.Just imagine how crazy do you need to be to fight a anthro lion in a human body hahaha...

Oh yeah,so,humans suck in this one.In this world, and in the real one,we are a race with the least positive traits and with the most negative ones.No offence to anyone thought,I am a anime fan and love humans,I like how much flawed and imperfect we are XD lol.

Just thinking about this makes me excited! This is clearly enough to get your imagination going! What is your opinion on this matter? Is humanity better dead r else?

Also, while we are talking about humans, what is your opinion on humans in real life? What would you change if you were to be God?

Remember,we are all people and there is no need to insult one another, this is just for fun!

I believe that the universe is completely infinite. This means that the possibility for a world like this one to exist somewhere is 100% We just don't know where it is.

I for one would love to live in that world. This one is just so boring. Sometimes I can't stand it.

Though i have no doubt of other imtelegent beings in the universe, if humans exist there has to be other intelegent life somewhere else in the cosmos

It's wierd how some people think that the universe has an end. There's just no way, space is infinite. I believe in the multiple universe thing too.

Oh,I must have given a wrong idea of what I want to talk about haha.

I DON'T want to discuss if there really is a world like that, nor is this about paralel universes. This is a discussion where you give your opinion on how you think this world would function ;).

I hope that you got the right idea now, thanks and sorry!

I think that the world would be a lot more balanced. Humans take advantage of the fact that they're the only intelligent species on earth. They do whatever they want with nothing to stop them. If anthropomorphic creatures also inhabited the earth, there would finally be someone to tell them "no you can't destroy the forest" or "no you can't blow people up with nukes."

That's what I believe, and I can't stand it that this world isn't like that.

That is more like it Cecil!Let your imagination loose :).

Let's make something clear, are you a Therian? No offense,I'm cool with that if It's true.I thought of that because you happen to have problems with humans and you show incredible love to nature (I think).I'm human.

Ehhhhh,I don't think that it would be a balanced world.More than 5000 intelligent races...uhm I'm sure that stronger races will wage wars, enslave and exterminate those weaker races like us humans.
I don't want to sound like a complete asshole but,I respect nature and other life forms that live on planet earth, but I don't love nature that much.Like your example with humans. It is partially true that humans do whatever they want with "no one" stopping us.Humans are dominant, top of the food chain, intelligent and our race is a threat to all living animals.Number one predator, that is why every animal runs away when humans walk through the forest. But,after all, there is one race that is a threat to us.Ourselves.There is no need for anthro creatures, humans tell other humans that they can't do what they want. That is the reason why we have ecological groups and hippies etc.
Humanity is not united.Actually, there is no humanity!Today,it has reached the point when it's RARE,better said it is a ANOMALY to find someone who won't say that humans are inferior, ugly, envious, greedy, cowardly etc.Of course you won't find people say  "Wow!Humans are great!" or "I'm proud to be human",you will have more luck trying to a single dust particle in the pacific (Not really :))Humanity sucks to that point where people hate their own race and deny that they have anything with it.

That is the reason for founding the furry fandom.Great people who all happened to love anthros and give money to charity, help children with diseases etc. They gathered around back in the 80's and said:"Hey you know what furiend?I'm sick of seeing same things on Tv!It's always something like "this country attacked this one" or "People got blasted by nukes" or "this guy killed that guy" or "50% of the amazon rainforest is destroyed"...Man I'm tired of this crap!Everyfur, let's create a place where we can share our beautiful furriness!" and then the other one said "Yay furiend I'm down with you, anyways, humanity stinks and we stink as well.I always prefered anthros".Of course,it wasn't like this but you got the point.

The furry fandom is a great  place full of great people!Never had I ever found a bad person, and I'm not even sarcastic,I'm dead serious! And to back up my claim about humanity, just look how many people leave humanity and join the furry fandom or some anti human organisation.

I agree that anthro creatures would be better than humans,it is better for us if we remain a slave species or be used as a cheap expendable workforce. And what makes you think that only humans will be bad and imperialistic? We can't hurt anyone if we are kept slaves. The weakest have no rights.

I'm dissapointed and ashamed of what race I like, you love a gray bunch of beautifull and smart animal races.Furries are great people who do great things everyday, still better than shit that we do everyday. We have no other purpose but to start wars and kill each other.Furries love all races, humans hate.

I can't write anymore today,I'm not in the mood anymore.

I guess I could call myself a therian but I say that in a very loose way. I do believe that there's a way for our world to be more peaceful, and furries are a big part of that. I love nature and animals and i'm willing to fight to preserve their beauty.

I don't understand. Are you saying that furries are a big part of creating a peaceful world or that you would like furries to live in a more peaceful world.

Looks like furries are way more effective than our peace system,UN.We might as well disband all organisations hahaha ;).Humans suck at diplomacy, furries should do that. Not just diplomacy,we suck at everything lol, sucks to be me.

I'm saying that furries help make the world a better place. It would be nice if all people had the same love for animals us furries have!

While you have a point pancakes with how humans would be enslaved due to lack of defense\nature mechanisms it would depend which race had been around longer and the sort of world, would it be medieval or like ours, if it were like ours and humans and furries both evolved at the same time, i believe that like us, their natural instincts and defenses would have weakened due to the expansion in technology, people would have become more laid back along with furries so this world you would imagine would probably have furries that didn't have claws or teeth due to everything being handed to them. This does also all depend on which evolved faster and first however because if Humans were smarter and saw furries as a threat they would wipe them out in a heartbeat. This is where if it was a more medieval society well if it were like one, and both furries and humans had evolved at a same time but were more aggressive furries would definitely win due to their natural weapons such as claws teeth and the gift of flight and of course their equal intellect.
Don't know if this is the subject you were looking for but Hope it helped!

Yes,Valentina, you are on the right path XD.That's what I want to hear.

Cecil,I too love to think that furries are helping to improve the world ^_^,but you need to think about something.

Furries are helping to improve the world the way THEY would like it to be and I'm sure that a lot of other people wouldn't like that world. You see, from what I've heard from you and other furs, furries want to live in a world where nature comes first and where furries are the majority.A world where furries could be themselves everywhere they go without judgment and criticism (if I heard correctly).A world where everyone adores animals, where cutting down a tree or digging soil is a federal offence.A world where furries actually can really be anthro creatures (with the help of science).A world where people jump around naked on trees, where people restore their special bond with nature.A world without machinery (only eco stuff) or big cities, without oil usage and guns,no religion...Instead,people live with nature (In trees probably),where animals are idolized (and where the only godly figure is "The Great Oak" or "The almighty fox" or simply mother nature, where instead of wars we refer to diplomacy or friendly games, where governments don't exist...I could just go on and oooonnnn.

This world would be perfect, but only for nature lovers and furries (and you guys are both ahahahaha :P).I think that this is how furries would like this world to look like, hopefully.Except for furries and nature loving people (that's a big  amount of people),I don't think that other people (including myself) will find this to be perfect.

My ideal world wouldn't be that different than this one.I want a world where there are not many poor countries,no high amounts of crime,a little less wars,a more fairer international peace system, slightly better technology and a world where nature wouldn't be that tormented.A world where most countries are democracies ,a world with advanced military technology (used for good reasons),better healthcare, superb transportation systems, equal rights for the most part etc.

No offence.Everyone has their own views :).

Theoretically there could potentially be a world just like ours, though there would be no evidence for it and it's not falsifiable xD

I think humans would still win out, why? Cause we have one feature that makes us rain supreme.

Opposable thumbs.

Even if animals became bipedal and super intelligent, their claws are just not that good at grabbing onto stuff, holding tools and what not. Their technology would be supremely different to our because of this fact, or it might turn out not be much of a limitation at all, but I do think it'd be a significant limitation with using tools and what-not.

Also you assume that the variants don't have the traits humans have, of pride, envy and so forth, but these traits might not only be relevant for humans, they might be relevant for all animals, maybe some animals have it worse than humans! Not only that, but it wouldn't be "humans vs variants", the variants would be fighting each other, different species have different dynamics, and so there'd be just as much in fighting and variant tribes as there would be humans fighting variants.

Would humans win out? I think, in the end, we still would, though it really depends what degree of intelligence these variants have. But in today's world, extra night vision doesn't count for much, extra strength doesn't count for much, what counts is your technology.
