Is Android's Marshmallow Better Than Kit-Kat?

I heard good things about Google's new Android OS, Marshmallow; but how good is it? I have Kit-Kat now and my phone is not eligible for an OS upgrade, My phone has some issues like photos deleting themselves and my notification bar going away then coming back. It's not a virus or anything and it only happens sometimes.


I was hoping Marshmallow would be more stable, Jellybean was a mess with the random restarts so I got Kit-Kat and it was better. I would just like to know if Marshmallow is more stable than Kit-Kat before I get it.

Marshamllow hasn't been released for my phone yet, but I'm chilling on Lollypop for now and it is already so different than Kit-Kat.

Sometimes devices don't handle the upgrades too well though. I have a nexus7 that went from Ice-Cream Sandwich to Lollypop and it just can't handle it. Everything lags and whatnot, so I would recommend seeing what other people say about your phone and the new OS.

First check if you can move to 5.0 or 5.1, before moving to 6.x

Well. it should be. Android versions usually quite well improve on each other and both Lolipop as well as Marshmallow has added quite a few additional features to improve it over KitKat.

I haven't actually seen a real improvement since Ice Cream Sandwich and I don't like Samsung-anything anymore, I'm good with Moto X - everything. Especially the camera, take 100 shots in less than 30 seconds, great for photoshop image stacking.

I love it.

Android updates aren't like Windows updates - It's extremely rare that there's an update people don't like and most updates are about improving battery life, performance and generally just making things better instead of making it all completely different.

My phone can't upgrade OS's and I might get a new phone with Marshmallow as the OS so that's why I was asking, it's not so much upgrading to a new OS version, it's a matter on if it's better and more stable. With the exception of 1 or 2 occasions, every new Android version has usually been nearly universally better than the last one;

- Lolipop added a new runtime which significantly improves app startup time and app performance, tweaks to the interface to make it more intuitive and easier to use (without making it completely different), improved lock screen, battery life improvements, notification improvements, better call quality etc.

- Marchmallow then adds improved searching functionality, even more battery life improvements, new sharing features, better permissions control, backup and restore functionality for apps, improved SD-card support and an experimental Multi-window feature.

No, it's different. Marshmallow's backup system is renewed and quite significantly improved.

Wow, Marshmallow sounds really good! Thanks for all of that information, I'll be sure to get Marshmallow when I upgrade to a new phone.
