When the time finally comes that civilisation crumbles, one of the artefact's they'll recover, one of the few surviving clues about our history and lives, will be a humble game boy with tetris slotted in. And this is as how it should be, for the relic sums up the society we live in right now awfully well:
We're all just misfits of different shapes, sizes and colours trying to fit into a boxed world where we serve very little purpose to our existence before we are laid down and fade away in a line...and thus the cycle repeats. Succumbed to our addictions, we fall.
The message is all there, but those who pick up the ancient entertainment device will not understand. For them too it'll start out as something they merely do, perhaps for fun, perhaps as a challenge, perhaps to merely pass the time. The pace will quicken and the straight piece they need to fix the mess they've made of this already damaged world will not fall from the heavens to aid them.
Things will stack up out of control until finally, they can no longer rotate their way out of the destiny they have forged themselves and thus the pile will collapse and they will fall just as we did. And...and then the cycle will begin anew, of constructing towards the heavens and eliminating the old to make way for the new only for the explosion of new elements to destroy them all in the end...
