only way to avoid 'big one' is to move away from the Pacific Coast
from what I know, the Pacific Ocean plate is going under the Cascadia plate, every year the Pacific is shrinking while Atlantic growing, those big earthquakes happen when pieces of rock get stuck together at any moment one comes loose everything shakes
