(Okay, here goes...)
Cifero's nose twitched slightly as a beam of sunlight touched his face. Raising a hand to block his face, the winged cat slowly opened his eyes, blinking as they adjusted to the light. Hmph... beats waking up by the sound of screams, he thought. Sighing, Cifero swung his legs over the side of the bed and sat up, letting the covers drop off of him as he let out a huge yawn, the sun's light illuminating a long scar on his chest. Standing, Cifero quickly went through his morning exercises before setting out his clothes and taking a quick shower. It was times like these that he was both glad and sad to not have a roommate. On one hand, he had a whole room to himself to do whatever he wanted to in, and there was a much greater chance that he would never be seen naked. On the other hand, part of him yearned for someone to talk to, or at least someone to sleep in the same room so that he wouldn't feel so damn alone. It had been almost six months since most of his brothers and one of his sisters had disappeared, and almost a year since his parents had gone missing. The only member of his family he had even had contact with was his half-brother, but even he wasn't around all that often. He just wrote letters talking about how he and his half-sister were safe and alive and so on and so forth. Sighing, Cifero screwed his eyes shut and turned of the water, pushing the memories of his family to the back of his mind. It was no time to reminisce; if he remembered correctly, he didn't have long before breakfast started, and he wasn't exactly in a position where skipping a meal would be healthy. Stepping out of the shower, her wrapped a towel around himself and washed his hands before walking into the main room and pulling on his clothes. Looking in the mirror, he sighed and hoped that no one would notice how thin he was at the moment despite his choice of clothing, which unfortunately left his midsection exposed. He silently cursed his obsession with Freedom Planet as he combed his hair, but he knew that in the end he loved dressing like his favorite character. It gave him some sort of personal strength to dress this way, partly because he felt a little like the character when he did and partly because he knew that if he could dress like this and not be embarrassed, he was pretty sure that almost nothing else would ever bother him. As he threaded his swordbelt through the loops of his shorts, he glanced at the time. I'd best get going, he thought, slipping his dagger into its boot sheath and buckling his belt. After grabbing the key to his dorm and whatever else he needed for the day, and after washing his hands one last time for breakfast, Cifero walked over to the door of his room, took a deep breath, and entered the hallway outside, glancing around as he closed the door behind him.
