Why do you need a sound card? Can't you just use the ports at the back of your motherboard?

What's your current motherboard? Because usually even most cheaper motherboards as good or better than a sound card.

Uh.. It usually lists the model either right above or right below the graphics card on most motherboards. What brand/socket/age is it?

Also, which sound card? Coaxial is a digital output which means that the data that goes through it is just 1's and 0's. A coaxial connection, just like with optical s/pdif or USB, is identical from A-B and should, unless you have a REALLY old (like 5+ years old) and crappy motherboard, not produce any difference whatsoever.

Also, what's the 5.1 speaker system and what connection options do you have for it?

I wouldn't recommend that one. I had the original one but sold it after I found that my cheapish Asus motherboard I bought 3 years ago sounded pretty much identical and was even unable to pick out which was which doing an A/B test.

Sound cards are mostly just marketing and, honestly, buying such a sound card just for Coaxial or S/PDIF is a waste of money.

What's your speakers? Can you post a picture of the back IO of your motherboard, with all the ports?

I need a little more information than that, as in, what brand and models are the speakers? How do they connect, as in, how do the connection options look like?

Also, could you still try and take a picture because it's MUCH easier to see what you have from a simple photo.

Could you find a model number or get a picture of the ports for the DVD player?

Are those the only type of plugs the DVD can use? Because that looks more like a component video cable and not an audio cable.
