There's still the issue that Lady Serana came straight to Fort Dawnguard pretty much immediatly after being reunited with her father.
She gives you a quick rundown about her father being too far gone and way too obsessed with freeing vampires from "The tyranny of the sun", to the point of him no longer caring about anything else.
So he's like *THIS* evil and stuff. Ready to plunge the world into eternal night-levels of evil.
They're more at war with clan Volkihar than anything else.

For all the Dawnguard would know, this could all be a trick to gain their trust so that she could destroy them from the inside, or ensure that her clannies would have an easy time attacking them at full strength once the time is right.
Vampires are known to have and uncanny ability to sway mortal minds to their benefit, so perhaps she's really just there to manipulate them all?
She's a really pretty young- and harmless-looking lady, so it'd make sense for clan Volkihar to send her to try and carry out such a task, and for the Dawnguard soldiers to inevitably lower their guard as they might not necessarily perceive her as a threat.
She's just a wee harmless li'l vampire lassie, after all.

If I were in charge, I'd not accept her roaming the halls of my stronghold and main base of operations, for that very reason. Only exception would be if she agreed to go find a cure.

I get that she -could- be telling the truth, or at the very least let slip stuff that might be good to know about clan Volkihar, but is it worth the risk to have the daughter of your arch enemy virtually cohabitating with you?
What message does that send out to the general population looking to the Dawnguard to save them from the rising vampire threat?
"Ohaidere guys, we've got the daughter of the most powerful vampire lord in all of Skyrim amongst us, but it's totes cool guys, she said her dad's a meanie and stuff! She's cute so she's probably telling the truth!"

It was also she who turned me into a vampire, which means that the strain of vampirism I'm infected with is ~95-100% pure, as I was turned by a pure-blooded vampire.
That would mean I also don't suffer from the unpredictableness and feral/primal tendencies of "impure" vampires. Even less of a reason to kick me out.

I gave up my mortality for "the cause" because I saw no other way.
The plane of Oblivion we had to brave would've killed me otherwise, as only the (un)dead can "survive" in there.
Would they rather she'd killed me and turned me into a zombie?

Or for me to declare the mission was a failure and return to the fort bearing the news that all hope is lost and we can but delay the inevitable?

Vampires do not age, are by default a lot hardier than humans, grow stronger when denied feeding, and could do the extremely demoralizing thing of taking attacking Dawnguard soldiers captive and turn them into brainless vampire thralls to send back as proverbial cannon fodder, that could then also infect the other soldiers with impure vampirism strains.
Once they were to run out of medical supplies to stop the disease from taking root, they'd have to start killing their own wounded soldiers just to be on the safe side.
Which is probably not going to help inspire people to join the cause.

In short, trying to storm or lay siege to castle Volkihar would be suicidal.

Seeing as the leader of the Dawnguard is clearly an empty-headed dimwitted numbskull who fail to see why I've done what I've done, allows a potential high-risk threat free access to all of the Dawnguard-controlled areas, and who is completely incapable of doing anything on his own  (except for making stupid decisions apparently) seeing as he keeps sending -me- out there to take care of literally everything (from recruitment drives to low-key grey area assassinations),
it's clear that they NEED me, vampire or not.

The safety of the whole world is at stake, and despite being the most capable mer they have, I'm suddenly no longer allowed to help out because my appearance has changed.
It really doesn't make much sense.
If they could accept/trust/tolerate Lady Serana pretty much from day one despite having even less reasons to trust her (she just showed up one day, said "Ohaidere, I'd need to speak to one of your guys named Unghifer. Important and stuff plz no kill." and they were cool with that) than they do to trust me, why are they telling me to get cured while not demanding Serana should get cured before she's allowed to be helping too?

She IS a really high-risk threat after all, and if she was sincere about her father being completely bonkers, she should accept their demands without question and head out to find the cure.
But nope, only poor ol' Unghifer Sothar is to be subject of such demands.

I call discrimination.

(And no, seeing as the mission was a success and I returned as I was supposed to, despite this little road bump, I highly doubt they're suddenly starting to think that "hey maybe she's actually tricking us, she already turned that guy after all" as that should've been a point brought up straight from the start, especially for a group declaring themselves to be expert vampire slayers.)

Ehp... I didn't see much busses today. They all didn't drive due to the snow... Except for this morning, at Haarlem centraal station.

Geeeee, there were TONNES of busses there! It was redicoulous, I've never, in my life, seen that many busses together, in one place...

Like seriously, go to google Earth, and find the giant bus station next to Haarlem centraal, go to streat view, and then imagine litterally the entire plaza and the street leading upto it covered in in busses! That's how insane it was!

I do have to say, those new busses connexxion has got look really neat! Especially the new double decker ones!

Wait, you're saying that the Dawnguard command has given Serana unsupervised access to their MOB?

I mean, shure!

The doughter of the very leader of your very enemy, (Wich, I thought you said the Dawnguard was allied with, tbh) is indeed a very handy asset to have hanging around!

But, whoa...

Even if Volkihar was allied with the Dawnguard forces. Hell, even if it was just merely an FOB...

Yeah, I gotta give you that one. Letting anyone into, hell, even near, any of your encampments, and even merely equipment, without supervision by at least two security guards is irresponsible as absolute hell...

I mean, most modern forces apply full internal security to even their very own men, leave be externar parties for maintainance, and stuff, and have entirely seperate areas, speciffically designed for handling civilian and OpFor personel. And, yeah, shure, that's a little bit too much to ask for a force from BC eras, but still. completely unsupervised, and given free access inside the base? That is indeed a little bit stuupid. To say the least...

Soo, yeha, I catch your drift...

Why not keep her under surveillance, at least whilst inside any base/encampment, or built her a very nice luxurious room, and pretend that it isn't a prison, or something like that?

Unlessssssssssssssssss, She actually is!

It's not impossible that the Dawnguard have let her into the base, but have kept all the actual equipment, intel, and communications completely separate, so they can see what she's going to do!

They may even have her under constant surveillance, without her knowing!

But yeah, it's upto to you to decide how confident you are in the Dawnguard post-commander's stupidity...

I'm not excluding it hasn't got anything to do with Unghifer not being a cute vampire gurl. But, nevertheless, I still feel like the reasons still stand.

Serana is a high-value asset, worth the risk, (providing that some adequate form of security is present) and you are not.

But, yes, if it means anything to you, I'd just slap a gas-mask (or whatever the Dawnguard equivalent is) on Unghifer, give him my crispest uniform, and call him "my secret weapon" who's totally not a vampire...

"No, seriously! He's not a vampire! Don't believe me!? Well, PROOF IT! >:C"

Spoiler for Hidden:

And, is it annoying that I'm constantly using modern millitary terms for everything?

I use them because I, for some reason, know them, and for some reason, know absolutely nothing about BC war terms, such as "dungeons" or whatever. But, I kinda feel like I come off as: "Hey, look at me! I know army stuff, soo, I'm kewl!)
Wich isn't my intention, and stuff... :I

Well, don't sweat it...

It was fun while it lasted, here in 'Muijje too, but my guess is that before tomorrow, litterally every trace of snow will be gone too...

Although, I hope not, ofcourse!

Not for another 5 years, presumably...

Technically that would work, but I'd say that the affects may turn out to reverse, in the long run... :/

Enough snow for it to end up in my shoes as I walk.

Also rainy. And extremely slippery too.

Not happy.

I found that forefoot strikes makes the chance of me slipping and falling just a little lower. Adjusting my speed, however, helps a lot. Thank good ness I didn't have to fall to figure that out.
