That's not true.
I've seen other threads like this one being "won" before.
For example "Claim the flag" or "My hill!"
None of them were locked by mods, people just stopped posting and after a while they got locked automatically.

Are you counting encounters or just measuring by time?

I know I should be counting the encounters rather than the time, but was too lazy to get that done properly this time. xP
It's mostly just that seeing as it is a really weak pokemon that frequently calls for help, it just feels like my streak should be pretty long by now >->' Grrr and stuff.

Yeah it also gets tiring to add a number to it at each encounter

Best I know of is the one Pokemonforever have.
Not automatic, but it keeps track of the IVs, Hidden ability-% and the shiny-chance along with the encounters.
That's pretty nice.
