It depends on the person. Some people think the universe owes them something, so they wait for their dreams to happen for them. Others are just too scared to try.

Why do you think people are pessimists?

I can explain why I was a pessimist. Bad was all I knew, I had no hope and no one. I got burned on almost everything. I was constantly beat upon.  I saw no good. I lived by prepare for and expect the worst , but hope for the best. Now I'm more of a realist. Or at least, I think I am.

Why are some people too optimistic?

People are too optimistic because they don't understand that the universe doesn't care about anyone, and that nothing happens for a reason.

Does it really matter that we don't really have purpose? Should we care about this cosmic indifference towards humanity and individual life?

To be able to become a rainbow-coloured French aristocrat with the clap of a hand.

Do you do what an otter may do while singing "do-de-do"?

a person who follows the ideology that life is meaningless? In ways, yes.

Have you ever looked around and realised that you've got too much stuff?

Nope, money is merely a means to obtain stuff, and stuff is my life. *is sometimes quite materialist.*

Do you have a favourite film director?

Pessimism is the act of seeing the worst outcome every time, whereas a realist sees the most realistic outcome to a situation.

Which is the best ideology, realism or pessimism, and why?

What's the best ideology?
Well, define best.
To make the question answerable in a decent small piece of text I will not go to philosophical.

If we look at the expectations set by a ideology we can see the following: Pessism will say everything go bad, realism will say that when things will go good it will say it will go good.
So, if you want to see things rather realistic (duh) but not to set too high expectation I suggest realism.
However if you want to constantly be surprised if a situation goes well I would say pessism is your ideology.

Why do people say nationalists are racists?
