first be sure that you typed in the address and didnt copy paste it. Second, as much as I try to keep it up as possible I turn it off when I got to bed so if you tried a couple hours ago, you wouldnt have been able to connect since it was off. It'll be on till about midnight central time today so you should have plenty of time to try and connect again.

curious. on your multiplayer server list, what does it say about the server? can you see the server name, the motd, and how many people are playing?

On the main screen of minecraft, you have singleplayer, multiplayer, texture packs. Click on multiplayer and you will be brought to the serverlist which would be empty the first time. On the bottom there's join server, direct connect, and add server. Click on add server and manually type in the address I gave to you. You should see Minecloft added to the list. Click on it and then click join server. This is how you should connect.

thats prolly because you arent connected to minecraft.net so just try later. First time I've ever heard of that
