Haha, good joke.

On a more serious, note. The people who immediately connect the furry fandom to bestiality are among the most annoying of people. They have no intention to listen to logic or reason, normally. The best course of action of course is to ignore them. They are hardly worth your time if they're going to hate you over an interest.

No offense, but I strongly dislike it when people tell others to ignore those that hate them as if they will go away if you just sit there and take abuse. I, personally, would rather stand up for myself than take the abuse. ...Just saying.

If they're physically attacking you, I'd see why this would be necessary. I know that a lot of people hate me for stupid reasons, and I usually don't hand them the attention they so hungrily desire. Once they realise that the reaction they are trying to pull out of you is not going to happen, they move on. Problem solved.

In theory, but being called names and what-not hurts. If I just ignore them and don't stand up for myself, they're practically getting away with every insult they throw at me. Like if they call me retarded, and I don't defend myself by saying why I'm not retarded, then I might as well be retarded.

to be honost i dont see why people think the fandom is so 'outragously wierd' or 'evil' the only thing i could see that is apparent to other people not in the fandom is the wearing of collars, but its really not that big of a deal, they arent the one wearing it

Just ignore them. Dont let it get to you, i have had problems like this befor. they think furry is a fetish, or your going to hell beacuse you like anthro ect... I have had this problem with my friends mom befor she was strongly ageinst anythig furry. Nothing worked.

Try to educate them on what a furry is, show them fan boy confetionals: the furry fandom. it might help

Sadly, that rarely works. I try to tell my dad that Furry isn't a sexual fetish, but he refuses to listen. Most anti-furries are like that, actually. ...Then again, it's worth a try.

If someone decides to drop you as a friend just because of a hobby/lifestyle/religious belief, then i would have a good think if i would still want them as a friend.

I personally hate narrow-minded people who immediately judge you by what you where, what your hobby's are etc. Strying to get them to consider other people's opinions rarely has a positive effect.
And although its always crap to lose friends because of something as "stupid" as a hobby or interest, when family members get involved it can get quite ugly..  T_T
Luckily most of my family are Atheists, and the rest is mildly catholic so no problems there. I Guess if they had problems with my hobbies it would be a shame for them. I Would never change because of the opinion/pressure of my family(only my parents). i would try to keep the "exposure" of the hobbies down to a minimum to avoid drama. ;)

I have been in those kinds of situations. I still ignored them and didn't let them bother me, and they just quit trying. By retorting, you are likely to feed the fire. As for pride, well... I never valued that as much as I valued peace and a solution to problems.

The thing about arguing with people like that...

Any time they please, they can make you or anyone else with that attitude stop in your day to argue with them about whatever they'd like, and possibly even make you pissed off or depressed. All in the name of not letting someone who's wrong or rude go ahead and say their wrong or rude things.
