The metal thread
« on: November 28, 2011, 08:45:16 PM »
I had a look in the music section and I couldn't find a general metal thread, so I thought I would make one :)

Talk about your favourite metal bands here :)  What bands do you like?  What concerts have you been to?  Share bands and songs here :)

Like all kinds of metal really, mostly death and black, but I don't really like thrash, heavy and power.

I like Xasthur, Lifelover, Animals As Leaders, Blut aus Nord, Shining, The Axis of Perdition, Burzum, Darkspace, Rotting Christ, Akercocke, Portal, Incantation, Deathspell Omega, ChthoniC, ColdWorld and so forth.

If you want a more in-depth look into it all, check out my Last.FM page here.

And I'll just leave a random awesome song to give this post some meat.

(Note: This is not the full song; the full song is one hour long.)

Trist - Hin

A hour long :o  Wow, that's huge!  It must fill up a whole CD, lol xD  It is an awesome song though (well the part I have heard, lol).

I have a Last FM too...is it OK if I send you an add?

I love Blut aus Nord :)  My fave CD by them is MoRT...I think it is really good even though it's different from their usual style.

I must find out how to post YouTube vids, then I can post some of the vids I like too :)

Heh.

Sure; go ahead.

They are my fourth favorite band, but I think I may like Deathspell Omega just the same -- they sound pretty similar, as if they are brother bands. Even from the same country.

MoRT was an interesting album, and I agree it definitely was a bit different from their usual stuff. I liked it because its drums were really cool sounding, and the music in general as well. Not sure why a lot of people hate it, because I think it's pretty cool.

To post a video, all you need to do is just copy the YouTube URL, and post it in here.

Here is a Deathspell Omega song, see if you can agree with me that it sounds like Blut aus Nord a little:

Ultima was actually my least favorite album from them, but I did like Memoria Vetusta I: Fathers of the Icy Age.

If you guys like BaN, then perhaps you should check out The Eye, which is Vindsval's side project. It sounds like BaN's Ultima and Memoria Vetusta I, except re-mastered and heavily-atmospheric. It sounds reeeeeaaally nice. :3

The Eye - Your Wickedness... (Bastard Son Of Fear)

I also randomly checked out that Forest song, wow it sounds cool. I'll have to look into it :3

I like The Eye very much :)  Parts of it remind me a little of the computer games I used to play on as a kid :)

Wow, that is rare Garmurin :o  I hope that you can get them.

I'm a fan of metal, but by no means a metalfur.  There's too much good stuff out there to only listen to metal (or only electronica, or only rock).  I'm more a heavy/classic metal fan, not really into newer bands like Avenged Sevenfold or Bullet for My Vallentine.  I'll dabble in a variety of metal sub-genres, but I generally prefer to stick with clean vocals.

Brocas Helm - Cry of the Banshee (Lyrics in Description)

^ Quite possibly my favorite metal song.

Black Sabbath - Sabbra Cadabra

^ Favorite Sabbath track.

Motorhead - Love me Like a Reptile

^ Durhur, animal reference = furry.

Ah, some good old school bands there :)  I hadn't heard Brocas Helm before...they are really good :)  I listen mostly to metal but I do also listen to other kinds of music too (lol, mainly classical and dark ambient and stuff) xD

Here is another vid I like :)
