I chose it because I like how it looks, really. I also used to live by the sea as a baby and it reminded me of that I
nah it's pretty fun, may i ask why i chose it?
sea fowl (charadiformes) are an interesting family
also love how the tail feathers look.

Yo, any birds still alive and well hanging out? o:

Most of the local furs in my community tend to be mammals with two sharks standing out (which surprised me!). But I don't have many bird friends, and judging by the length of time, I'm curious how many birdies are still active outside just the corvids and gryphons. Avian furs tend to have a super wide diversity of species related or inspired by specific real life species, I've noticed, which makes me pretty happy as a part-time birder. Not to downplay more creative species, of course--I just have a pretty thorough birding fascination! Course, my bird knowledge is pretty limited to the pacific northwest with a couple novel guys tacked on. Vultures and shorebirds are my general favorites because they're pretty chill about hanging around and being obnoxious.

Anyways, my fursona's a bone vulture. Used to be a fairy wren, til I started feeling more of a scavenger than a singer. Plus I love seeing them in real life, with their kabuki faces and their constantly shocked expressions of, "Sir, sir, can I--can I help you?" whenever someone picks them up.
Oh, what a shame that the poor groom's bride is a horse.

I really love some vulture species (like the White-Backed Vulture). Maybe I'll create a character with that species in mind x3
Originally the bird fursona I was creating was going to be based off of the White-Backed Vulture, instead it turned more owl-y: Reference Sheet Kakusei

Kakusei is based on several owl species, perhaps most noticeable the Barn Owl with its heart-shaped head-disc.

The funny thing is, I've come across Bone Vultures before (well, one other). A person on deviantArt used to have one. And I think if I would get into designing a bird'sona, it maybe would have mixed traits between the White-Backed vulture and the Bone Vulture. Although I would like to keep the simplicity of the White-Backed x3

Them old world vultures are pretty gorgeous. I've seen a bone vulture on DA, too, but I don't know them personally. Bone vultures are a pretty iconic and easy to remember species (they eat frikkin bones!), so I can feel ya on mixing white backed and bone!

Kakusei is pretty intense though! I haven't seen an animated sheet before, which is pretty BA.

Outside of vultures, though, I definitely have a heart for song birds and shorebirds. Widowbirds are freakin' gorgeous.

I'm not sure if there's any active birds still in the community, but I'd love to talk to some other avians. I actually haven't met another bird, let alone another crow.

Do bats count as avian? I know they're not birds but they fly... Just saying.
