Transformers: Dark of the Moon
« on: July 05, 2011, 02:17:43 AM »

The final installment of the "Bay trilogy" is his biggest yet. At an impressive 2 hours and 40 minutes it's also one of the longest movies I've ever seen, but at no point was I bored. Multiple points in the film made me feel really sad,
Spoiler for Hidden:
in the movie one of the major autobots dies and it really hit me hard. I could imagine it not being such a deal big deal for others, but if you're a big transformers fan it means a lot more.
Sentinel Prime, voiced by Leonard Nimoy, really steals the show for me at least, playing the role of Optimus' former mentor. Easily the best of the three.

Thank you. I wasn't sure if the forum had spoiler flags or not.

Edit: Hehe, a clever way of getting around it. Pink left bracket ;)

I walked out of that film thinking "Jeez, Michael Bay, you got something to prove?" :P

I loved Transformers 3. It told a coherent story, kept the tone fairly even and serious unlike the second one, and slowed down the action a bit so you can actually tell what's going on. I actually felt like the fate of the world was truly at stake this time, unlike the previous films. However, I also felt like some of the classic villain characters were grossly underused.
Spoiler for Hidden:
Megatron in particular. Why did he have to go out like such a whiny punk? I mean seriously, Optimus kills him in one shot and he doesn't even put up a fight!!!  >:(
That said, it was great to see that the human soldiers weren't pathetically ineffective like they were in Transformers 2.

All in all, I felt like Transformers: Dark of the Moon was the best of the three films, and I eagerly anticipate seeing it again in 3D. :)

I'm glad to hear it's good. Though I'll end up seeing it on Pay Per View. I don't go to theatres.

Spoiler for Hidden:
Only problem I had with the movie was that they ruined one of the greatest movie lines of all time. The fact that they asked Leonard Nimoy so say 'The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few' totally pissed me off.

Other than that it was a great movie. I really enjoyed every minute of it. Both funny, action-packed, and a good story IMO. Feel free to disagree.
Love is only a feeling.
A feeling of security, a feeling of happiness, a feeling of lust, a feeling of belonging.
A feeling we need.
We may think we can live life without it, but a life without it would be boring, meaningless, and depressing.
Love controls us. Without love, we are nothing. With it, nothing else in the world matters

A feeling that makes life worth living or dying

Saw it in 3D yesterday. WOW.  :o Easily the best use of 3D since Avatar. The action actually makes more sense and is easier to follow in 3D than 2D.

All in all, my scores for all three films are as follows.

Transformers: 7/10. Great effects, cool story, and fun characters are all in place, but the film is held back by an overall lack of action, poorly executed fight sequences, and a scene that broke even my suspension of disbelief (and that is hard to do!).

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen: 5.5/10 Excellent effects, a cool concept, and Optimus Prime being a world class badass sadly cannot rescue this film from it's atrocious script, offensive racial caricatures, and over-the-top humor.

Transformers: Dark of the Moon: 8.5/10  Michael Bay redeems himself by delivering a film with top-notch action and effects and a greatly improved script and story. Unfortunately, some of the series' classic villains are pushed into the background to make room for new ones.

I saw this movie in 3D a few days ago with my brother. It was AWESOME!!! :D

If you look closely at my 3rd stamp, Churchill has a Kricketot, Roosevelt has a Chimchar, and Stalin has a Happiny. :D

Clearing things up: I'm not living in N. Korea currently. My parents (miraculously) escaped there and came to the US from South Korea. So I'm a miracle-worker I guess. XD I luv my parents. They be awesome.

I liked it. The action was cool, the special effects were crazy. I loved how they seemed to be finding different ways for the bots to transition. THOUGH, I'll really have to agree....
Spoiler for Hidden:
I was really upset they didn't use Megatron more. The other movies, it seemed like the deceptions were a joke, and this movie they actually SEEMED TO BE THREATENING. I got excited because Megatron came down and was starting to bust heads only to have Prime take him out with one shot. And the fact that Starscream was taken out by ONE human essentially, pissed me off.

Other than that, I enjoyed it.

I very much doubt I'll see it, to be honest. I feel that if I've seen half of one, I've seen them all.

I thought it was just terrible...nobody in it can act..the story is badly done...the action (while good) goes on WAY too long...etc..

Lol. Watch Feast 2 and then tell me Dark of the Moon was terrible. :P

As for the acting, what makes you say that no one in it could act?

Shia Le Beouf (that how you spell his name?) has an acting style that...just doesn't click with me. He acted kind of like a spoiled brat throughout the first 2 hours of the movie (what with him saying "i'm a hero i deserve things etc.") and then in the last hour he wasn't as bad, but again I'm just not a Shia fan, so I guess that's part of what ruined the movie for me.
