how can i persuade my mum to let me be a furry?

 :'( my mum wont let me be a furry coz she says its weird! what can i do to persuade her to let me be one? coz i am one and i really wana go to a convention or something but im not allowed! any ideas? xx

When i told my family i was a furry they mocked me and i ended up runing off almost in tears but they did accept me for being one


Best thing i can recommend is get her in a good mood and try explaining what furrys really are and if all else fails just remember *shes your mom and homicide is bad xD*

exactly what i was gonna say. you're talking as if being a furry is a drastic lifestyle change. you'll still get rid of all the waste food you ate every morning (i tried a non-swearing way of saying that) so don't fuss about it. just be one.

But personally, I don't think you need her permission to be a furry. It's not like your whole world will change just because you're a furry.

This is exactly true. If it's who you are, then no one can ever take that away. I've had plenty of people try to take it away from me. As for the convention part, just give it time, and when you're able to get out on your own, no one can stop you from going.

Anyway, My advice is pretty much the same, just do your thing and let your mom complain till she's blue in the face. My dad's not to keen on furries but he couldn't really care less because I mean, he's my dad, he can't hate me for who I am, and the same goes for your mom. You could tell her "Hey, at least I'm not a Neo-Nazi or a crazed gunman" There's alot worse things a teenager( I assume you are in fact a teen) could be doing, like crime,drugs,dui, being cast in the 3rd "I Know What You Did Last Summer" movie(trust me it was awful). But now I'm getting off topic so I'll get back to my main point, being mad at someone for being a fur is like getting mad that someone is 'too interesting' or 'having a hobby'. Good luck with this whole thing, Hope I could help(or at least get a cheap laugh),

LOL I think my mom would be thrilled if all I was is furry. She's having concerns over my ideologies of gun collecting, finding new ways to smoke illicit substances, and "less than decent" ways of showing affection.

Actually, instead of being so direct or somewhat arrogant you can try to do some project thing here on TFF and compile some video or petition-style thing telling your mom there's nothing wrong with us.

On a side note: I realized something here. People who are furs generally have a high tolerance of BS and tend to be cool headed. They also tend to be more creative and successful. But that's just me and my random psychological observations, don't mind it.

In any case, I would say just do it. If some one wants to be closed minded about it, so be it. Just remember to rip on them for watching sports or going to church or other hobbyish things that seem to be deemed acceptable. ;P

After all, It takes many types to make a society.

It's awesome to have a mom who had no idea what furry was/is until I explained it to her. :U

Mom: "So? You've been pretending to be an animal since birth." <---Loooooooooololololol (She's always thought I was weird so meh.)

Anyway, my best advice is to listen to the other advice that's been given all ready. Just keep it on the DL-- you don't need her permission to be one. Just be mindful not to mention anything related around her and you'll just have to wait until you're able to get to cons of your own accord. Some day things will be better!
