Since the beginning of time two Apocalypses have occured, the first wiped out the dinosaurs and the second all but wiped out humanity. Because of their need to survive, the remaining humans hid underground in bunkers. This has stunted their evolutionary growth, and all history of what caused the Apocalypse has disappeared. Millions of years later, the humans still struggle to survive underground. Finally gathering the courage to leave their bunkers, the humans step out into the natural light for the first time.
The world they find has been newly populated by a conglomerate race of anthromorphic creatures, calling themselves The Ze-ites. The Ze-ites welcomed the humans with open arms, calling them The Elders as they knew that humanity had come long before them. To the human's surprise, the Ze-ites actually spoke the same languages the humans did before their fall. In fact the Ze-ites had reached the same level of technology of the Old World.
Around 100 years have passed since the Elders first walked into the sun, and the Bi-Millenial ceremony passed by 12 years ago. Strange rumblings have been recorded in the Earth, and something seems to be shifting underground. Then on December 21, 2012 of the Ze-ite calender...they came.
The creatures seemed to appear from nowhere as they sprung out of mountains and the seas. Strange tar-like beings invaded town after town, city after city. The tropical areas were hit hardest, as the creatures thrived in the heat and seemed to pour out of the volcanos. Only 6 months have passed, and the creatures already have established a dead zone spanning from the Tropic of Capricorn to the Tropic of Cancer, known to survivors as the Black Ring.
Most of what is left of the Ze-ites and the Elders have fled to the poles, as the creatures seemed to dislike the cold and have never ventured past the 65th parallels. Unfortunately, many have turned to the creatures worshipping them as gods. Their leader is said to be able to speak to the creatures and their master, and has given himself and his followers the title of the Acolytes of The Animus. The Acolytes seemed to have strange powers granted to them by the creatures, very similar to the creatures themselves. The more powerful Acolytes have even been known to command the creatures in battle.
Now the Acolytes are looking for something, searching the bunkers of the Elders, and digging deep into the Earth. What they are searching for is unknown, but it can't be good.
Welcome to the 3rd Apocalypse....
Alright...basic RP rules apply. No god-moding, no power-playing (unless sanctioned by me), posts must be 3 lines long, and you must post EVERY DAY! There is no post order, to make it closer to reality. If you need to be skipped for a day, please say so here in the OOC (If you don't but can give me a good reason why you didn't post via PM then you MAY be exonerated). Everything is on a 3-strike system. Gabag and Shinzuu will be assisting me in keeping order, so be on your best behavior.
Some players, if they wish to join, will be starting out with one strike to begin with due to play styles and reputation so if I say you start with this handicap then just know that everyone is keeping an eye on you. I don't want to exclude anyone but some players are not condusive to a true Serious RP. Sorry.
There are four 'races' in this game(only two are choosable, those that aren't are marked in red):
Elders--An ancient race from a time long past. Millenias underground has stunted their evolutionary and technological growth. But if they are good at one thing...it's surviving.
Ze-ites--Your basic furry...'nuff said. Some are faster, some are stronger, some are smarter, but all together balanced.
Acolytes--Can be either be Ze-ite or Elder. These zealots worship the creatures and some can even control the ooze that the creatures are made from. Very nasty fellows.
??????--The creatures themselves, called The Animus by the Acolytes. Their true name is unknown to all but themselves. They seem to be able to survive even the highest of temperatures and even char the ground they slither across. It has been reported that some of the creatures can take forms similar to that of an Elder of Ze-ite, even successfully pose as one, but these reports have not yet been confirmed. The creatures seem to dislike cold to the point of avoiding it at all costs. There has been a rumor going about saying that a group of survivors made it simply by hiding in an ice cream truck. There have also been unconfirmed reports that electricity completly destroys them. Whatever these creatures are...they're tough and are bent on the total extermination of all things living.
