Shame the Photoshop thing didn't really work out tho. Apparently the only way you can place coordinates in gimp is by first making a guideline for the x coordinate and then one for the y coordinate, before enabling snap to guideline.

Write a macro to put in numbers for you!
You can specify the position of the selection or whatever manually.
Now if you want 5 stripes you can just put the numbers yourself, if you want 50 you write a macro and it makes the stripes for you!
I recommend autohotkey.
Though it might be a bit hard and not worth the effort for you

Yeah I'm not sure if I'm going to be using this much.

I think the best suggestion I've seen is just to make the shapes using a "vector based program" and then finish it in Gimp.

Or I can try doing it in AutoCAD, because that I know how to do, and it has exactly what I'm looking for. The only question then is if I can effectively finish that with gimp.

Anyways, lying on a table while someone is prodding in your mouth isn't something that's very enjoyable
