Dunno, personally I feel like I've seen similar things being done before.
Or at least the "This species drink sap and stuff happens"-part of it.

I probably said this on Discord days ago, but the important-drinking-tree-sap thing reminded me of the argonians from the Elder Scrolls.

These sound interesting!  ^_^  I tried to make a species once but horribly failed.

Baby argonians drink the sap from the Hist tree throughout infancy to "properly develop" and "obtain a soul", according to their culture.

The woof dependency on tree-sap thing also reminds me of the Khajiit's moonsugar addiction.

I should note that they just seem similar in some details, not ripping off or anything. There's nothing wrong with that.

I tried to make a drawing, and had no background, just, "Slime like humanoid figures, with a thick layer of slightly tinted clear slime stuff, then a core of solid color. Glowing paterns and eyes" made a few rarer traits, but forgot it all.  XP
I do need to make some things for stories though. And "Creature" may count. But he's just an odd amalgamate, in a style I've seen before.

Soo, basically just goop monsters?

@Ek

This is a good example.

Cheza's species isn't unoriginal, I just feel like it misses more development. Like, for example, pressure. Or possibility for a heel, or conflict.

Not having this further "fleshing out" makes everything prone to being compared to other things, making it seem unoriginal. Because when you say "Woofs and Argonians both drink treesap", noone can proof you wrong, because of right now, Woofs don't seem to have any majour traits that distinguish them from Argonians...

But, with some more development, Woofs can deffinetly become their own thing!

Yup, Argonians are a lizard-people-species descended from sentient trees.
When they drink the sap they form a spiritual connection with the trees, and it's got various physical and mental effects on Argonians too, like deciding/changing their gender.
And then once they die, their soul will return and be stored in a Hist tree for safekeeping until it's "recycled"
Their situation is different as those trees are magical sentient beings that "look out" for the Argonians and their relationship is more or less symbiotic.
Like, during the Oblivion Crisis, almost all Argonians no matter where they were in the world got called back to Black Marsh by the Hist well in advance. And once the gates opened, the Argonians were prepared for it and able to fight the Daedra so well that Mehrunes Dagon had to give up on trying to invade there as he got worried they might end up invading his plane instead.

Woof trees are just regular old trees with a sap that's somehow highly addictive to woofs, and generations upon generations of migrating between trees and drinking the sap has just made them keep the cycle going "because we're woofs and this is what we do and what we've always done and no random outsider is going to come tell us we're doing it wrong"

So it's indeed closer to moon sugar and Khajiits (with some similarities to Argonians and the Hist) in some ways, altho my main inspirations have just been random real-life examples of plants being dicks to animals.
As well as some random personal struggles.

Since when are plants consistently being dicks to animals?

Well, can you name an example that inspired you? Because I'm a little confused...

Or, do you just mean thorns, or nettles. Things like that?

Plants with random seeds that get stuck and force you to carry them with you for half an eternity until you get tired of them and try to get them off.
Carnivorous plants. Self-explanatory, altho it doesn't really apply to woofs.
The parasitic zombie-mushroom spores that causes ants to go die. Tho again it doesn't really apply to woofs.
Coffee. I'd imagine the tree sap to amongst other things be high in sugar or/and caffeine, or something that's similar to that. Coffee is probably the best thing to compare things to, considering how many actual real life people like to joke their lives depend on it.
Hepatica Nobilis. Its seeds look like the cocoons of ants, causing them to pick them up and carry the things for ages, wasting precious time and effort in the process until they realize they've been trolled.
Or at least that's what they taught us at school.
That one plant who's name I've forgotten that near-perfectly mimics the female of a certain insect-species to the point where males of the same species are tricked into trying to mate with the plant, pollinating and wasting energy in the process.
Seriously mother nature, what the heck?

Many of those aren't exactly related to the woof-situation, but they make the whole idea of a tree having developed specifically to "prey" on a species to use for their own benefit seem probable enough.

@Ek

Eh, that's pretty cool!

I guess since we're throwing in species things here:

It's just your basic ancient gaint plant-like alien lifeforms wich have evolved to basically resemble spaceships made out of alien flesh and bone, wich occaisionally landed on planets with ecosystems in their early age of development, and abducted various lifeforms like plants or animals, to use the carbon, and other nutrients they excreted during their space travels, before dropping them off on other life harbouring planets.

Other creatures that ended up on diffirent planets, ended up evolving parallel to humans, and eventually becoming humanoid in nature, (bipedal, intelligent, can speak and use tools, ETC) but developing their own treats as a society, because they're all of diffirent species.

The avians (bird species) were the first societies to develop to the point of space travel, because of their headstart in intelligence, and because they didn't have the tendency to start global scale wars, unlike their competitors. (humans) The avians began travelling around the galaxy, finding the other species whilst intersharing their technology (Lupines, Felines, Bovines, Reptilea, ETC) and eventually alien lifeforms wich didn't originate from early Earth.
Because of the Avians spreading their space travel technology with the other species, trade travel and migration began emerging between the various societies.

However, interactions between the diffirent societies, (although sometimes smooth-sailling) often goes troublesome, due to the strong diffirences in each species culture, behaviour, and juristictions. And individuals can often get into trouble, or serious danger, when they do not understand the habtitudes of the species that they are trying to interact with.

@Cheza

All of those, except for the seeds thing, apply to insects, and not to mammals. Or, as you said: "Animals", and the way insects work is just damn scary, yes, but it doesn't apply to mammals, no.

And, with coffee, it's actually us humans being the dicks... :P
