Welcome to the forums and the fandom, Douglas

No need to be scared. Especially this forum is very warm and welcoming. If you need help, have any questions, there is always someone to provide/offer help ^^
You won't be excluded. The furry community is rather open. Heck, we all create are own character, try to be unique, and a lot are very open/curious/interested about others.
As for my personal experiences in real life, being a furry has been amazing. I go to events (fairs/cons) and people will point out, yelling in joy: "Oh look, a furry!" (When I fursuit, that is. No one says that when I just have my regular human appearance

)
Of course there will always be people who judge and think the wrong things of others, especially that what they don't (want to) understand. This is for everything, not only the furry fandom. You should do what feels best to you: If being a part of the furry fandom, or learning about it is what interests you and makes you happy, you should do that.
If you don't yell out to the world (online and offline) that you're a furry, you surely don't have anything to worry about at all.
Might I ask, if you have no interest in fursonas/art, etc. What does bring you to this forum and fandom?

Hope you stick around!
