Could build an electrolysis machine, seperate it into hydrogen, run it off of that.
 
Would take a lot of power, though. You'd probably waste a lot of your horses and torques, just running the generator.

Eh, not really, I've seen it done before. They just dont perform spectacularly well. Petrolleum and diesel are stronger. Ethanol is stronger!

Yes it is, but you need a lot of electricity to seperate it into hydrogen and oxygen on a decent scale
