Well, one of my dogs decided that it was a good idea to grab a hold of a porcupine with her mouth...
Needless to say, she had quills stuck in her lips, tongue, gums, and inside of her mouth, along with outside of her mouth, but most were inside.

Yeah, she kept pawing at her face to try to pull them out but she wasn't whining or anything when she came up to the house with them stuck in her.
I don't know how long it took to get them out. We took her to the vet and he had to knock her out to do it because some of them were in pretty deep and she kept fidgeting when he was trying to remove them. Since he had to knock her out for it, he just decided that he'd keep her overnight so we didn't have to stand around and wait.
