Well, as far as I can see, it's all about co-operative story telling versus table top gaming which is competitive and co-operative.
So having a setting which clear story landmarks or familiar tropes or even "doing" a story like Furry LOTR etc.
But if you wanted to have stats running in the background, then you can do both nicely. The previous attempts I had playing I found two problems, when a player wants to say what happens in response to their actions. You want to allow that for flavor, but some people take advantage. Also a GM who always told us what we did and thought and felt? *facepaw*
