Well, as far as I can see, it's all about co-operative story telling versus table top gaming which is competitive and co-operative.

So having a setting which clear story landmarks or familiar tropes or even "doing" a story like Furry LOTR etc.

But if you wanted to have stats running in the background, then you can do both nicely.  The previous attempts I had playing I found two problems, when a player wants to say what happens in response to their actions.  You want to allow that for flavor, but some people take advantage.  Also a GM who always told us what we did and thought and felt?  *facepaw*

It's kinda wandering off topic, but RIGHT NOW I am thinking about the Beast Wars setting in Transformers.  The plot device for not being able to remain in robot form was that they were drained of power but were immune when in animal form.
