The Guardian
« on: April 02, 2009, 10:31:08 PM »
One century ago, in the great jungle of Rodan, there was a very small village. The people who lived there were a peaceful sort, and they took great care to preserve the vast jungle of Rodan.

However, this peace was not to last, one day, a scout reported that a large army was marching to the jungle. It appeared as though all was lost, but there was hope left, The ritual of the Bakuleman. The villagers decided to gather the objects necessary for the ritual, and perform it as soon as possible in order to summon the guardian of the Rodan jungle.

Many days passed, and one by one, the objects were gathered, the objects being three beautiful swords, and one specimen each of Nightshade, Jequirity, and Oleander. each plant was harvested for the deadly poison they held within, and then, each poison was applied to a different sword, at which time the blades were placed in front of a great wooden carving of the guardian himself.

The ritual required that each blade was to be used for a sacrifice, so three criminals were brought forth, and one by one, their lives were given to the Bakuleman. When the last man fell, a loud roar was heard, and the carving began to change, wood melt into scales, limbs began to move, the ritual had worked, the village was saved, the people watched in awe as their savior stepped down from the pedestal it had been on, picked up the swords, and disappeared.

well oleander is basically one of the most poisonous plants in the world, if not the most, and jequirity can kill even just from a pricked finger

part  2

The leader of the advancing army, a man by the name of Abram, was training at the encampment his soldiers had built. He had been given orders by his king to find anything thing of value in the jungle, and raze it for farmland. Abram had already sent a portion of his army into the jungle already, they had been there for three weeks now.

He called over one of his officers, a woman named Leithe.
"Leithe, how goes our mission?" he asked gruffly
Leithe stood at attention and reported "sir! our men have found everything of worth, but there is something going on that is making the troops very nervous"
"What do you mean, something going on? out with it!" Abram shouted at her, his short temper  heating up.
At his words, Leithe gave a signal to some soldiers and they hurried off. A few minutes later they returned with an emaciated old man who was writhing with insanity.
"we found him praying in front of a statue" she told Abram
Suddenly the old man leapt up and grabbed Abram by the arm
"you are doomed, the bukalemun, it will feast on your corpse!" he shrieked with delight and insanity.
"Bukalemun? what is the meaning of this, i have no fear of your nonsense" Abram shoved the man away and drew his longsword.
"the guardian of the jungle, the bukalemun has been summoned, you are doomed, your hope is lost!" the man began to dance.
"Enough! i tire of this" shouted Abram and with a swing of his blade, the man lay dead.

"sir, he may be right, our troops have been dropping dead left and right, one soldier even said he saw a large reptile retreat into the jungle, and then he found six men dead where it had been"Leithe said, shaken up by her generals sudden outburst.

Abram simply looked at her, his face flat and emotionless. "if this is the case, then tell the soldiers to prepare the torches, the jungle burns at dawn."

ill be trying a new way for charcters talking in this chapter.

The creature stalked it's next target, a man bearing a torch, it jumped from the branch it had been perched upon. The guardian of the jungle stood about the height of an average man, it was a reptile, chameleon to be exact, its name...was Golge.

The torch bearer continued towards the trees, unaware that he was being hunted, all of a sudden, movement in the trees, the enemy?  A bird flew out of the bushes, and the man breathed a sigh of relief. His breath was cut short as a long sword was driven through his back, deadly poisons began seeping iinto his body.

Golge removed his blade and inspected his handiwork, nodding slightly he dove back into the jungle.

Meanwhile back at Abrams encampment.

Leithe: Sir all attempts to burn down the jungle have failed.

Abram walked over to leith and grabbed her by the throat.

Abram: Imbecile, do i have to do everything myself?

Throwing her to the side, he picked up an arrow, tied an oil soaked cloth to the head, fitted it to a bow, lit the rag on fire, and shot it into the jungle.

Abram: Pack up, we head back to the city, our work is done here.

so this conversation style doesnt work well, ill keep trying new ways
