VERY good for a first timer, you know when I started RPing i did this,

Jeremy: Hi Eli! *waves at Eli*
Eli: Good morning, *waves back*
Jeremy: It's kinda warm today, huh?
Eli: Really? I feel cold, we have the heater on now,
Jeremy: Can you turn it down a little?
Eli: Sure. *turns heater down*

That's just an example, but that's what it basicaly looked like. I like how I do it now better.

but i always read a lot and i read each Harry Potter book what.. 4 times each one of them (all of the seven), and i read Eragon (twice), Eldest (twice) and Brisingr (once). thats were the idea of the protecting the mind, the sword with spells and my character knowing spells came from  :-[
