A Question about Conventions
« on: November 16, 2008, 05:31:12 PM »
Hi.  This is a subject that, being kind of new to the community, I am a little shy about, :peek:

I know that Furry Conventions occur every once in a while.  I am very interested but I'm not sure if I would fit in.  If anyone wants to, they can share their Convention experience stories here.  Hopefully it will give me a better idea of what the experience is like.  I'm really shy and I don't know how friendly people are there.

Another thing is that, I see many attendees wearing fursuits.  Are fursuits required to be able to attend, because I don't have one and lack the money and creative skills to make one. :squish:

So if anyone has any experiences or answers they would like to share, don't hold back please. :)

Of course you don't gotta wear a fursuit!
If you did many furs wouldn't be able to go seeing as to how they are so expensive!
And trust me you would most likely fit in. Everyone would fit in, I mean, c'mon, it's a furry con. :)

not many people have the creative ability to make their own costumes. Psh. I know I couldn't. Im only creative on the computer!~

I've never been to a Con because im 16 and dont have the transportation (or fursuit, which I would love to have for the con.) and parents are still on my back. (watching closely at mah furrynessss).

Cant blow the cover if they came along and saw freaking people dry humping eachother. >.< lol

but yeah, fursure ill be going to some in the future. But that wont be untill I get a fursuit. I personally think furry cons are boring without one because you get wayyyy more attention in costume.

meh, those costumes arent everything imo...

not trying to sound like a jerk, but tbh, i think they're rather ugly, and besides, personally i prefer to talk to someone who's face i can see...

Mmm.  I live in Northeastern U.S. so it looks like they don't come too often.  Apparently I just missed a convention here, without realizing it was happening.   =3

Oh well, looks like I'm waiting.

Might be wierd going though, seeing as none of my friends or family know I'm a furry, and I'm not really sure I can tell them.  Not that I don't want to, but the family had a hard time accepting my sexuality, so I think this might push them a bit overboard.  Lol.

lol well its all a matter of opinions I guess. lol
I personally like well done fursuits.

You can get away with allot more when you wear one! haha
Hugs, Horse Play, ect.

Otherwise, people would just look at you funny like you're on crack

I've been interested in getting to one as well.

Mobility isn't an issue for me, as I have a car, but I live right in the middle of a -huge- mass of... erm, [political stereotype removed] minded people, which tends to result in a lower Furry population.  So it's quite a distance to the nearest Furry, let alone Furry convention.  Unfortunately, an unaffordable distance.

So... Furry-Con at my house next year?

I must admit, I'm a fan of the suits.  There are pros and cons, but I'd wager that having fursuits there certainly brings the mood up.  Plus the suits are usually furry, which is always a plus.

Hrm... has anyone ever seen a porcupine fursuit before?

Fursuit? Bah. I'd go in full make-up and appliance. Much more realistic.

However, I doubt I'll ever actually go to one, for many a reason.

Yeah, make-up/appliance certainly looks more real, if done well.  I think mostly because fursuits tend to have gigantic heads.
Back to the plus side, though: fursuits are furry.
