I started off with a very large admiration for anything anthro, in my early childhood. Everything from cartoon characters to cameo  characters in commercials caught my eye. I have also been interested in animals all my life, and find them to be more worthy of living than humans. In late 2008, during early adolescence, I'd stumbled upon some risque content during an image search. Naturally this caught my eye, (especially at such a young age.)

Though I'm ashamed to admit that smut was my introduction into the fandom, I'm glad to say that I quickly grew interested in all other facets of the community as well, immediately falling in love with the fandom, and I've been a proud furry ever since.

(Slowly but surely I'm converting my girlfriend to our fluffy ways) ;)

A few months ago I came across this comic from the webcomic XKCD. Although it's a *somewhat* negative & incorrect view of furries, it did introduce me for the first time to what furries are. Eventually Wikipedia helped me learn more about it. I just let it go for a while, not sure whether I was one or not, but eventually I found myself going back to the page to look for places where I could socialize with others, having others like me to chat with. After looking around, I eventually found this place. All of it happened in the last couple months, so I'm newer to this group than most. It seems nice enough, though.  ^_^

I'd always preferred foxes and bunny's more than humans, when I found out there's a whole community of it I totally got into it.

It sounds like plenty of us have it in common as far as media goes, whether it was gaming, cartoons, or what have you.  I remember as a kid back when ABC morning cartoons were awesome when the first sonic the hedgehog cartoon came out (not the goofy one with the rooster and the fat drillbot), I was thinking how cute they were.  Though I guess after hearing about furs on Newgrounds i started looking it up and got into it officially.

Oh for sure, I do miss those awesome old disney cartoons.  The Rescuers were on a couple days ago, and I'm not sure if it was an "eep!" or a squeak or a combination of the two, but some sort of high pitched noise of joy came out of me that had my girlfriend giggling at me.

I found furry after I saw some furry art online months ago, and just now I've joined this  furry community after googling "furry forum". In my dreams I'm always either my fursona or a real life fox, not sure the exact reason but I've had them as long as I could remember. Up until I was about 8 I don't even think I saw much furry related things or even a real fox. My parents didn't let me much TV as my mom had a childminding arrangement so I spent most of my time playing, I'd play like a real fox quite a lot so much I was nicknamed for it, the only dogs I knew were old and not playful (I was young and they were likely to bite). I was homeschooled mostly so I don't know any outside influences before that (I also don't have any friends offline because of that), though I did like pokemon (and digimon) which is kind of furryish apparently but I felt no want to RP as one (actually related more to the trainers, probably as I was given a pokedex).

Thanks to my sister in recent years I've learnt to love Disney and I really enjoy cartoons and animations now. Though, my parents think it's a bit silly to be actually into it deeply unless I was an animator (which I have some ambitions to be) so I haven't told them about furry yet.
I've watched Disney films with fox characters and really related to /liked them quite well so I decided for my fursona to be the foxish being in my dreams. I've not long started taking art classes and that so I figure eventually with practice I'll be able to draw my own art and I really want to draw/paint real life animals as so far I have enjoyed drawing them and also furry/cartoon animals.

Totally blame Disney!  XD

I remember being about 5-6 and watching The Fox and the Hound, it was my total favorite. I used to drive the adults mad by running around on hands and knees "practicing my howl" and insisting everyone call me Copper.
Then came The Lady and the Tramp 2. At which time I became Angel instead of Copper.
I always had an imaginary animal friend and I always used to play at being a dog or fox or whatever took my fancy.

Anyway I stumbled on the real furry fandomat 16 thanks to a furry friend of mine. I created my first fursona Harmony a white wolf. I started signing up to forums and chatting to other furs and realized I could be anything I wanted. I changed to a vixen fursona and over the years have changed from that a few times.
I started out with little basic rp's but soon my love of writing took over and I joined some more literate and experienced furs. I loved RP and created a few characters to explore with. It's a side of the fandom I miss now I'm not so active.
I decided to try my hand at the art side, I adore the furry art others make but my own art is lacking in skill though I'm slowly improving.
I took a break from online furry life but I'm right back here a few months later, I guess being furry isn't something you can just ignore!
