Me to i really loved the sonic games and i play them all time, i love Tails he is my faveourte charatcer.
I have been a furry all the time i just did not know there was a woed for it until a friend of mine told me a few years ago and that is how i got here, i just searced a forum and here i am :D :)
I've always loved animals/anthros, and felt more connected to them than people really, but I never actually heard of furries until I joined IMVU three years ago. I liked wearing the animal skins, and that eventually just led to where I am now.
To be honest, I'm not really in the Fur stuff yet, but I might. Mostly I wanted to get away from normal life, I guess.

What exactly is normality? It's hard for a line to be drawn today...

{[cut]} now i am happy soul. {[cut]}
Hmmmm...
That's interesting. But it seems like everyone doesn't know they're furries for sometime after they start the fandom unknowingly. ???
Weeell.... I've always drawn animals my entire life. My favorite ones to draw were wolves, and eventually I started drawing anthro wolves. Also, I've always had dreams that I could control... And I loved turning into a wolf.
So, right now I'm thinking I might be a wolf furry... But I'm not sure. I'm still a new furry and unsure if everone would be like "Well, you just DECIDED to be one, then? That means you're really NOT one!"... So yeah. But I'm pretty sure I'm a furry. :)
im still kinda nevrous about telling people im a furryyeah same here I was extremely nervous to tell anyone I was a furry but I just couldnt supress it in since it is such an important part of me. Alas I found out that not everyone will agree with your choice, like my sister who freaked out when she found out, but at least they know about your true feelings.
Oh my heck, Redwall ALL THE WAY! I would always role-play my own Redwall Abbey adventures with my friends hahaha, it was great fun! =D I totally forgot about those too! The first one I ever read was Marlfox. That got me hooked on the series. I've read Martin the Warrior at least 20 times, and I think I'm gonna read it again! :) *picks up the book and starts reading*
I loved animals and especally wearwolves, i used to play games with friends where we pretended to be animals, then i started wishing i was one, eventually i met someone who drew anthro art and that got me into the dirty side of furry's (you know it, it starts with a Y ) and eventually that lead me to forums like this and i finally accepted it and identified as a furry.
*** so many people similar to me, I have really had a thing for werewolves and also have always wanted to be one.Same, same...
very interesting... I watch CSI on occation but I really must have missed that episode... :o
It's so funny because at times people go crazy and hate furries for the preferences they have, and refer to that CSI episode, when Detective Grissom makes a wonderful statement in the middle of the episode:
"...the only unnatural sexual behavior was to have none at all, and after that, it's just a question of oppuritunity and preference. And, evidently, many prefer the feel of fur to the texture of human skin."
So really, that episode almost proves out that furries are just like normal people. It's all a matter of preference, and no outside force can make you change that.
Furries are VERY confidential about their identity.I guess so...
well hello there!Yeah, hey!
hope you have a good time on these here forums ^_^ ... dont worry most of use dont bite...
All I ever heard about furries were the bad stuff. CSI came up a lot (and even to this day, I still haven't seen that episode). I was reluctant to believe what I figured was obvious exaggeration, so I went on to find out for myself. So I started digging around, just checking out all the different aspects of the fandom as a whole. In a way, I was fascinated by the culture; I wanted to understand what it was about.Umm, if you want to learn more about the furry fandom, do as i did and read This Page (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Furry) You can also look around Here (http://en.wikifur.com/wiki/WikiFur_Furry_Central) for further information about furries.
I found a Team Fortress 2 server for furries (The Furry Pound), and after playing with them for a while, I started thinking "Hey, these guys aren't so bad, it's actually nice playing here." Every other server I played on was rather... strict, y'know? Like, it was always like "KEEEL OTHER TEAM, CAP INTEL GOGOGO", and the Furry Pound was just a lot more relaxed. Just a load of people having a laugh. I liked that.
I like the art, and I'd like to get to know the community better. I don't know if that alone makes me a furry, but that's why I'm here.
As far as fursonas go, I've got a rough idea of one in my head, but a fursona is something I don't quite understand yet. That's something that'll likely develop over time.

Thats what i did when i had just joined the furry fandom ^_^
The word “yiff” is NOT allowed to be used as a verb (as in, “Let’s yiff”), but IS allowed to be used as a noun
(talking about art and the subject in general, although the discussion still must remain appropriate for minors).
So I'm not super original, I'm kind of a wannabe.
I like having a forum with other people who understand that liking furries is okay!!! :)
my furry story is a long one, so here goes......... i was always around animals and the woods where i used to live and i was always out there .playing and running on all fours in no time at all people started sayin i was a wild animal. even now i growl when im mad i pant when im exited and i always sniff things to get familiar with them. the animal i was litterally obsessed with is the wolf . like yours. i also dreamed of being sonic the hedgehog i was always tails when my sis and i played. but furrys also help with my uhhhhh how can i say this........ shyness not like regular shyness but kind of sexual shyness too my friends at school are also furry and i have alot in common with them we are all wolves and one lion.. we have all been in relashionships and have been mates so we are all really close. furrys are my life my band is even influenced by them we are called the nature of the beast. thts how i became furry :P :3 ^_^*eyes glisten, inspiring story...... Mine was way more plain than that, i guess besides wanting to be an animal for much of my life, ive always loved the forest too, i go there alone a lot...... Ive already said some other stuff too, anyways i can see now that furry fandom will never leave me, its always gonna be a huge part of my life :)
I just dont get why ppl would do it in the first place
Fur-piled yes ftw ^^ that definitely helped me fall in love with the fandom
That sounds nice... But the mods are going to tear you up >.<
i like animals more than humans for all my life. if only I could really be one *sigh* :/
always thought smexy was worse...
This made me think...in retrospect we are all gonna die
I was 4or5 and saw a movie called "Stroker Ace" with Burt renaylds. He wore a Chicken suit in the movie. Ever since then I knew I was a Chicken! I bought a Chicken suit about 18 months ago and The Buffalo Chicken was born. Some of you may have read my rant "any ideas". All the things hold true to furies. I spent years dressing as a Fairy(pixie) and got the same exact [removed] I do for being my true self. Society hates anyone who is an individual!
And trust me, that myth that Disney movies being shown to children create furries is bull....I think...
Not true. I got interested also because of Disney.
unless it's a fox?
*lowers ears in sadness*
How i beacme one was that i always liked anaimals when i was younger when ever some one talked about super powers i said i would have one to morph in to aniamls, i always liked movies with humanoid animals and games (rpgs action adventurer ect...) i also though about alternate realities where we are our flavorit animal but still had human aspects it wasn't until a week a go i found out that there were other ppl like this and i chose to be a furry.

yo know, its almost the same to me, but this part is so so so long ago i didn,t remembered it! but i feel the same
I've always felt very animal like, and very close to animals. It was prominent through my childhood and still is. I've known about the furry fandom since I was about 12, never really considered myself one though. Until just recently have I started to really get more into it, I believe it was because of a cruel thing a friend said to me about furries. I took the insult towards me and realized that I am very much furry like, so I embraced it. And I lovelovelove it.

I actually used to have a friend who would constantly tease and troll furries. He would always show something "idiotic" or "disgusting" a furry did and then wait for me to say something like "Oh yeah... they are soooo horrible :/ " Eventually I just stopped being friends with him.
That's where I'm heading in my relationship with them, unless they get a clue and stop ;__;I've always felt very animal like, and very close to animals. I stopped being his friend and he didn't know. I honestly don't care if he knows or not because I don't talk to him.

:O another fox! I'm excited!!
i have to admit, i always thoughts there where alternate dimensions where there is a world like ours. only difference is in the alternate dimension, are beings like us, only anthropomorhic like.
i believe there is a dimension somewhere where it ruled by people like us, only with fur.
like in da sonic comics, only more civilised.
i believe there is a dimension, where its completely ruled by furrys by blood.
that one of da reason why i became furry in da first place.
i know ive put a post here in tis form somewhere, but i will say tis it needed to be sead.
Vinny Raccoon :3
I was 13 or 14, somewhere around there, like a year after Final Fantasy X came out. I finally got the game, and found I felt attracted to the legendary Kimahri Ronso....so I got on the ol' dial up net, and searched for adult pics of him...and I didn't find any right off the bat, but I found others, many many many others, and from that day forward, it has been the #1 thing on my mind...I don't know if that makes me a true furry or not, but I feel at least a little like one. My story isn't very long or interesting, but I guess I just felt like sharing something with somebody who won't judge me for it.
Whatever the case may be, I'm still very glad I have such a powerful mind-altering tool to use at my discretion. I can overcome any stressful situation I encounter by thinking of a vast number of scenarios that are nothing more than just futile attempts at writings, but they still work wonders to ease my mind into a calmer state. My imagination expanded a huge amount all at the click of a mouse....pretty awesome if you ask me.
off topic, I happen to LOVE the show Gargoyles :3^_^ Yah...it was a very awesome tv series and was very sad when they ended the show with the Goliath cronicals on a sadly lame note.
Well, to be honest, it's all thanks to my fetishes; I have myriads of very weird and unorthodox fetishes that look better on anthro characters, and that's what ultimately caused me to discover the furdom. I joined FA in April 2010 but stayed in denial until February 18th of this year when I realized that I really was a fur.
Hmm, I've always loved nature, and felt a stronger bond towards all the animals of this world besides humans. Humans just...didn't seem natural to me. I don't know why exactly. But eventually I ended up unconsciously aquiring a fursona. I looked into this sort of thing and found it wasn't uncommon. The rest is obvious.
I've always had a big interest in shapeshifters, animals, and the like. So becoming a furry was a natural extension of that. I found out about the fandom through the internet, initially, but I didn't identify with it for some time because I was afraid of the stigma. Then I decided, screw it, I'm a furry :Dthere's a girl on youtube from germany i chat with going through the same phase XP
I saw an early episode of My Strange Addiction. It was about a girl that liked Furries and had her own fursona. The tail thing was a bit of a turn on. Did some research and liked what I found. I decided to look up some conventions and I found one that was coming up in a few months so I saved up some money and went. Met alot of great people but I haven' gotten into fursona's yet. I don't know if I ever will. Creating names and a costume is too much for me.
i errm... *madblush*
yeah. stuff!
>_>
*shoots self in head for telling the entire forum what he has done*
i still need to watch that My Strange Addiction episode
I became one cause my friend is a furry and he got me into it and i absolutely love the furry lifestyle!!
6/23/2011 is the date I discovered that I am a furry fan. The manner with which i discovered this is... interesting. Parhaps the largest way i discovered it was that i read an article about fur-ism in the 2008 Guinnes Book of World Records where an article inside mentioned the furries. I was intreagued with what i saw. I have always loved animals, Wolves especially, and cartoons my whole life. When ever I saw a film with which the caracters were furry in appearence, Surf's Up and Alpha and Omega for example, I always fealt a strange attraction to it. It was like something inside of me was pulling me towards those films. I would dream of them in my sleep and think of them constantly untill I would buy them and watch them continually. It wasn't untill 6/23/11 that I discovered why I felt this way. All the while it was the furry-ism inside of me tring to get out. It's been over a month for me and I have never fealt so happy and comfortable. I am furry! :D

i can relate to that
I have always loved animals, especially horses, since I was little. I always pretended I was either a horse or a wolf at recess in elementary school, and it's grown from there. I didn't know about furry fandom until about 4 years ago, but when I was around the ages of 10-16 I played online forum based role play games where I was a horse. I had several characters, and was very sad when my favorite site got shut down. It sent me into such a fury that I quit RPing all together. I haven't been able to find a site like it again.Sounds exactly like myself. I had a passion for real life roleplaying as animals and my own animal characters that I became familiar with all through elementary, and drawing them ever since, and my best friends were animals, not people, because I felt a more personal connection with them. But I never heard of the furry fandom until I was 16 or somewhere in there, and then it all came together.
Overall I realized that it was okay to feel the way I feel and do the things I do. Like relate to animals more than people, and especially think the way that I think. So I guess I could say I've been a furry all my life, but just didn't know it had a name until a few years ago.
Thats quiet a collaberation of stories their Xash, nice! B)
And BlaideBlack, Your point easily gets across, and your English is probably better than some people who normally speak English! XD
I'm kind of ashamed how i found out about furry, cuz it was the wrong way....yeah, i was browsing dirty pics (glad i don't anymore, it was ruining me) I came across furry pics..one day i got curious and wiki'd furry, and thought that what the fandom is really about beats out bad pics anyday.....i really regret looking at that stuff.... anyways...I've always loved tv, movies, games, etc with anthro animals in them...Sly Cooper, Ratchet and Clank, Crash Bandicoot...is it bad how i found my way into the fandom? I know about the Y word and all that, and that is definitely not my interpretation of being a fur...i guess i still don't feel completely accepted, but i just need to get on here more...sorry for getting OT
Hi all! I'll add my two cents first then tell my not so interesting story :-p
Do NOT ever be ashamed of how you found your way into the fandom, the world/internet is full of awesome and ugly things about us. Whether it be the dirty pics, the cool drawings or the simple spark of imagination that brought you here. you ARE here and still love it right? what you do NOW and from here on are what matters.
Ok, my story: I am the only son of 4 children. 3 older sisters who I love to death. One in particular, the oldest was into wolves. She got me (unintentionally) interested in wolves. and over time as I grew older and gained access to the interwebs learned a LOT about the species and then eventually the fandom and was instantly hooked. I am a wolf at heart, I have no doubt. In spirit and mind, and if people think that's crazy I don't hate them or judge them. It's just different from their point of view and thats OK!
I've always been different from people, strange in behavior and attitude but I never knew why. It took many years of abuse from school mates and friends to realize that I was different from EVERYONE. Mainly because I'm goofy, I love ALL people. And do my best to not judge anyone. I have my dark side and a little anger now and then but that ok I think because I don't lash out with it or hurt anyone intentionally anyway.
I'm always up for making new friends and helping anyone out that needs me or can use my help. Sometimes I think I try too hard, other times I don't think I try enough. Only time will tell :-p

it all started 10 years ago with animorphs i was 7 i read the stories and when i read the one about them becoming wolves i was awed with the discriptions about the keenness of their senses and how they alone were kings of the woodlands. it festered for 8 years. then i took a trip to the zoo.i looked every where.
then i saw them.
red wolves.
they were so beautiful. i almost cried at the sight of such a majestic animal, trapped and not free to roam the forests.
then it happened.
something inside me ached to be like them, wild and free (not in a cage tho). i began asking my biology teacher questions about genetic replacement and was dissappointed to find that it did not exist. but i was determined that there had to be something like a human with the senses and grace and beauty of an animal (namely wolves). so i googled.
i found nothing. then i watched yu-gi-oh abriged and i herd joey say "go y*** yourself kiba"" curious to find out what this strange word ment i looked it up, (tho i was scared i would get caught i continued to watch) i heard the word furry tossed around and looked it up and to my suprise a clean version existed.
a month later i declared my pride in being a furry this july on the fourth. my independence day.
(btw what is redwall?)
Magic turned me into one.
can never be enough vets. my brother aspires to be one XDMagic turned me into one.
mind if i barrow some of that magic, haha.
well like alot of other furries out there, i've always enjoyed anthro art and animated movies with animals. i've always loved animals soo much, i was actually going to be a vet until my dad crushed my dream by saying theres too many of them x_x so i gave up on that. but i still LOVE animals. well while growing it seemed anything that had to do with animals i liked more than anything that had to do with people because people are so vengeful, greedy, backstabbing, angry creatures. only but a few ever seem to do good :/ funny because the only books that kept my interest are if it involved animals, especially if they talked xD (but thats all background info)long story short, in 7th grade i became a huge gamer, i ended up really getting into computers and hacking, fell for this guy because i wanted to be everything he was, learned im mostly gay, and he turned out to be a furry. well to be his friend i tried to be a furry to, and for about a month i did all the research i could to try figuring out "what a furry was" i knew they were the combined human animals, but how do you "be" a furry? well eventually i got really into it, and furtalk, and raving. i soon began to think being a furry was a bad idea because i couldn't tell anyone i am one(other than my bf who didn't understand, muchless care) and so i gave up on it for a while, but returning about 2months ago remembering why i loved it so much before! :D
haha thanks, but im past that. it is true its hard to become a vet with today's economy the way it is, but i would love to go off and live with foxes and study them. i just have no idea how to get into thatthen your career should be Zoologist, the study of animals and such :P
I might of always been one considering my favorite childhood movies were The Fox and the Hound and Oliver and Company. :o
Thats awesome! :D Are you perchance, also a therian? :?
Thats awesome! :D Are you perchance, also a therian? :?
look on main forum page for a section named friends of fuurries ... im actually therian and furry among other thingsThats awesome! :D Are you perchance, also a therian? :?
whats a therian XD
Yep, agreed. Either Renamon or Krystal had the "big" influence. You have all the more reason to have Renamon turn you into a furry. She's tempting... XD and pretty hot. Dat body.... 8D
I'd knew about it all for a while and liked it, never thought of it too much. Until a week or so ago I got my old PS3 out and played with old friends, one was now obviously a furry (I didn't know what a furry was last time I played on PS3), in the game (LittleBigPlanet) he had created a LOT of furry art . So I asked him if he was one, he got all offensive until I told him I'm not sure if I'm one too. So that went well. Now recently I've been thinking about it and found myself passionate (not sexually) about it. Found myself being a fox, not sure what kind yet though.... ^_^
But I seriously don't know how to tell my parents, they don't even know a Furry is :o ! My brother will be easier to tell, he's open minded, he thinks it's weird but won't judge overly :| .
i personally found it easier to not tell any family that way i wouldnt have to go through the trouble of explaining things :p but if u really wanna tell them maybe have them read the FAQ part that says 'what is a furry' good luckI'd knew about it all for a while and liked it, never thought of it too much. My story will probably be a lot different from anyone else's.
When I was young, I loved dogs. Like most children, I would pretend to be one, run around the house..When I was 10, I joined an online virtual world for all ages. On this site you could get "avatars", each avatar meant you could change your current form to another. Everyone started off as a human. Avatars were VERY rare and very expensive, up to 200,000 per avatar, depending on which it was.
I later gained a dog avatar, which looked like this:
Here's a screenshot:
In this screenshot everyone had the angry expression on, I don't know why...and there's a robot on the end. ignore that.
The smaller dogs were called "Puff mini" avatars, and the bigger ones were "Puff bigheads"
I had a puff mini, and I was ALWAYS black and green. In early 2008 I had an online best friend on this website, who I lost contact with for about a year. We've now reunited, and on the website, when I met her again- she had been drawing people's avatars.
I asked her to draw mine, and here it is:
(I used to always hold a glowstick)
I asked to see some of her other draws and she linked me to her deviantART, from there I found out about the animation side of furry-ness. My "avatar" soon became my fursona, my character, and how I'd appear on every website. A black and green dog. And without realizing, I became a furry. Once I was a little more "advanced" in the furry world, I changed her markings, what she looked like, so on and so forth. She didn't have any markings before and there's animations of my fursona, Sopherz on youtube. Sopherz was my nickname, and is my nickname. Since MY avatar and I became my own fursona, she's named after me. She's the only one I'll ever have, and she really does, represent me XP
well you found others i mean the website does say *thefurryforum.* its kind of a big hint. jk. any way i would would love to read your comics if at all possible? :? if its any thing close or far from *better days* i am sure i will love it ^_^ i look forward to seeing you on here a lot and may i ask what state do you live in because me/myself lives in ohio.
dude you are the closest fur i talk to yet. i wish one lived down the street from me. :(
I've been a furry for a while, but not really identified as it due to the general distaste some people have for the community. Then I realized, if people want to dislike me for enjoying something, they can go **** themselves. And now I'm here!
awesome, and btw cool mechNice Avi :D
Kio, all those pets sound amazing! XD I must admit I'm kinda jealous X3
Yeah, I know exactly what you mean in regards to that empty feeling, as I've had pets all my life as well, though not to the degree that you have. I think they may have been a factor in me becoming a furry myself, since I've grown up having such a close and constant relationship with animals. I do hope that that dog is alright too, I believe that all dogs should be given a chance like that instead of just rejected or put down.
that thing about look for something that doesnt fit in, i was like
XD AMEN! and that that is totally what happened to ME! ^_^
Best signature I have seen yet! :) I'm not kidding! Hey is it all right if I buddy you?
If there's one latent influence for me it was probably the Ratchet and Clank series. I've played every single game in the main storyline, some several times, and of course the main character is an orange fuzzy animal called a lombax. He's kinda cute :P
Ever seen the secret of nimh?
Thanks feral. ^_^No worries :)
So touching :'(
Dude stop…you are going to really make me cry. We all should right speeches and give them to some one to say at a convention and be like "this is from fdf and they have a few words to say". That would be cool.So touching :'(
Awww...c'mere ^_^ *le big huskeh hug* :'(
The amazing thing about us furries is that we have grown such thick skin against indifference by others. We have been able to tolerate these haters for so long by just not giving a care about what they think about us. And we have thrived as a community till this day. =)
It also takes a huge amount of ego whooping and courage to reveal ourselves for who we really are and standing by our preferences and opinions as human beings/furries. The world would be a much more better place to live if there were more people who cultivated this mindset from the beginning about us.
I looked up what a furry was after hearing it so many times... It seemed to have matched what I considered myself to be. The idea of it just intrigues me. So, no, I don't have this great backstory or personal battle to become who I want to be, I just like the idea of being a furry.
Hmm... let me think about that...
Well, when I was about 5, I got a Gameboy Advance for Christmas, and Super Mario Bros. 3 to play with it. I hope I don't need to explain this, but Mario 3 has this power up that gives you raccoon ears and a tail, as well as the famous Tanooki Suit. To me, that game was like magic, and I think that's where my furriness started.
Another game that was a big part of my childhood was Drawn to Life, which had fox-like people called Raposa. I still hold that game high in regard.
I used to have a cat, and my remember my whole life wishing I could be a cat too. I think a bit of my personality is cat-like because of that.
I also used to watch a lot of cartoons, and you know how that works in relation to furriness.
Certainly would explain why I like foxes, cats, and tanukis so much.
I've always loved the whole talking animal thing, I was completely obsessed with The Fox And The Hound for the longest time..Basically what happened with me, except replace "fox and the hound" with "lion king" >_> I watched it like 5 times a day when I was little.
It really started when I found some scaly forums site, and I really loved that.. But on those forums I found some furries and just liked that alot more than dragons, so I researched a bit, and found out about the whole fandom and such. So I just joined a few forums. xD
Kinda glad I did that because I can actually fit in with furries.. Never understood dem dragons.
Explain... Please...
Yeah! Great, man! I don't mean to be too harsh, i was just a little confuzed when i just saw such a short explanation.
*likes the unclean art and can be a dirty pervert.* ;-; *hides in a closet from society.*I'm stuck in here too, but not all the time.

Good thing i dont know where it is.
got a little older I started to enjoy book series like Warriors,
What? Sorry I was too lazy to read the first comment. =p From the topic title I assumed it meant how did I find this site. XD
*ahem*
Lesse... happened this year... Uhmm... I dunno, it sorta just happened. I've been obsessive about moogles and moved on from there. Originally, my fursona was just a moogle, but I decided I wanted to be a little more original and made up the fursona I had... There were other things throughout my life that kinda hinted at my furriness, but I didn't actually embrace the idea until after my moogle-obsession. =p Again, sorry for not reading the first post.
All honesty, Starfox Adventures, Coke a Cola, Some Booze, 2 allnighters, and Google, all together brought me to finding the term furry. That makes sense to me. Well we are glad to have you with us
Upon further reading many many years ago, about 5 years ago, I found out that furries had the same interests that I did, and that I was like them, a serious love for anthro animals. So I became one, and have been a furry ever since and will never leave
I've always been a furry without knowing what it was. I've always felt very close to animals, so close that I could sometimes "speak" with them. I started creating antho dog and antho cat characters and imagining stories and stuff in my head when I was about 10. Finally I started to create feline or canine or hybrid versions of myself but it never quite felt right. Then I found MLP:FiM and got hooked to everything Brony! I settled into the brony fandom very easily and experimented with pony art and such trying to create a pony version of myself. Meanwhile I was playing this awesome equine sim which has a very big art community within the sim and I started to design and collect horse charries for fun and RPing uses. I was thinking up a new design for a while for a charrie when I ended up dreaming about a beautiful chocolate colored pegasus mare with golden tipped feathers inside her wings and a star on her forehead. It was like she was calling me... I spent a good month or so trying to find someone to help bring her to life and once I'd found someone by that point she was no longer a charrie but she was me... she took on my nickname as developed a few addons that define me as a person. So even though I'd been a furry for years and years it took me this long to find "myself"its great to see other bronies on here. it makes me smile as I will probably be able to easily relate to you because we are a part of the same fandom
I've always been interested in animals as beauteous creatures that seem to have life figured out more so than humans do. My mind always imagined alternative realities where these creatures were actually able to communicate with us as to how they live their lives. Eventually, I began to create a world in my mind where i would be one of these creatures. Namely a canine. I specified more as i came to see how nice wild dogs looked in general before having a definite mindset of how my character at this point would look. Then the internet happened...
I suppose I have been a furry most of my life, just without knowing it. When I was little I played a lot of outdoor games that involved being an animal and I have always found an attraction to games or cartoons with a anthropomorphic animal as a protagonist. However it wasn't until I watched one of the Nostalgia Critic's old videos about a year ago that he used the word furry to describe a group of people I haven't heard of before. So, naturally curious, I looked up what a furry was and I found that it may be something I could fit right into. I have cycled through some fursonas and read webcomics like TwoKinds but it wasn't until around now that I wanted to be involved more directly in the community.
I suppose speed running Sonic 3 all day as a kid finally paid off somehow XP
Sonic the Hedgehog. I used to be a massive fan of his games. I played all of them dozens of times but once i met Tails, everything changed. I literally fell in love with that little cute fox. His personality, his cuteness, his passion for planes and technology, it was like a kick in my chest hehe.
One day, i was looking for pics on Google and the word "Furry" came up. Damn! How could i miss this for so long! A few years later, i'm here ^_^
Personally I still don't know if I am a furry or not. I do like drawings of wolves and find it really cool how people get to dress up as them and stuff, but I only signed up because most online quizzes said I was over 70% furry.
So what do I do? My friend took the tests and hes one too apparently. I never really thought of myself as a furry, but never looked down at them. I sort of envied them actually. Its amazing how they don't car what other people will think of them. While I don't care either, there is just something holding me back from admitting it to anyone, friends or family. I still don't even know if I should take it seriously or not, that I am one. I never dressed up as a furry or anything, but I don't know what to do. @.@ So i am a little confused so if someone could tell me if I am one or not, or what I should do, or who to tell, that would be great. And I'm not saying I don't want to be one, I just dont know if I should accept it or not. :/ HALP!
Probably as a direct product for my love of anime and video games growing up. I always fancied the anthropomorphic characters, like Ouka in .hack//
The Deutsche Sprache is strong in this one.
First it all started with a friend of mine. When we met the first time his first words were "Hey! you look like a raccoon!" Since then people around school started calling me "The raccoon" and it went on for 6 years(beginning of middle school - graduation). Why'd they say you look like a raccoon?
Then I met a guy who was a furry on one of my adventures online, I told him that I'm to be called "Raccoon", got used to the nickname and started to use it myself. He introduced me to the whole furry world. Honestly I wasn't into it but eventually started liking it and then I found myself here. So I'm still a big newbie to the whole fandom thing
Why'd they say you look like a raccoon? The lack of sleep and the shades on my face made it look like I had a raccoon mask(it was slightly darker than most the face so it was noticeable)
Ah makes senseWhy'd they say you look like a raccoon? The lack of sleep and the shades on my face made it look like I had a raccoon mask(it was slightly darker than most the face so it was noticeable)

Hi all! So I'm new to the forum and I became a furry... I feel like just a while ago... Haha I made an instagram for my art... And I started following people who drew animals.. Like as characters and I fell in love with the idea. I also have a hard time being myself, And felt that I wanted to role play as something else. My love for reptiles have always been strong. I wanted to go to school for herpetology, however, its hard to pursue in the state I live in. Then I thought, Why not make my own character and be me for once.. I can be me through my Dragon fursona. So yeah thats me X3Hello all, I can tell you I knew I was a furry many years ago. I always loved movies featuring a antho main character. It wasn't till recently I was brave enough to post here. I know inside my heart I am a canine furry and always will be. Love every one willing to make their furry stance public.
