Fire in Darkness
« on: September 09, 2008, 07:42:58 PM »
So this is a story I've started writing. It will mostly be written by me, but Flames might also write some of the chapters.
Characters are all copyrighted by me, except for the character of HoKaze no Flames, who is property of Flames.

Chapter One: Memorizing the past

It was a warm day during the spring, as HoKaze no Flames sat on a cliff, with his eyes glowing like fire in the sunlight, as he was looking over the grass plains near what had  once been his home.
It had been 5 years since he had been separated from his older brother, and Flames was wondering where he was, and how he was doing. And as he sat there, wondering, memories of that fateful day came wandering back into Flames' mind.

It had been a usual day, just as this one, when he had left for the town. He was only going to go try finding some work, so that they would be able to get some money for food and other necessary supplies, so Flames waited as usual at their home during he day. But as the day was drawing towards a close, his brother still hadn't returned from the town, which had gotten him really worried by now.
As the night fell upon the sky, Flames couldn't shake the feeling that something was wrong... And as the gazed one last time over the fields with his fiery eyes, tears started to run down his cheeks.
He tried to keep strong, and wiped away the tears as he walked into the empty house, hoping that his brother would have come back by the time he'd wake up.
It was a sleepless night for Flames, and he woke up many times during the night, shaking from the nightmares he'd just had, with his muzzle and pillow completely soaked with tears. And every time he had woken up during the night, he had looked over towards his brothers bed, only to see that no one was there.
When he woke up in the morning, Flames had forgotten most of the things that had happened the day before, so he jumped out of his bed and went outside, because Vince was usually outside getting some fresh air during the morning. But as he got out, Flames didn't see anyone there.
At that exact moment, the memories of despair and sadness from the day before came all rushing back into his mind.
He didn't want to believe that Vince wasn't there, so he ran back into the house, shouting for his brother as he looked through the house, trying to find him the best he could, before coming back out to search there. He shouted and shouted out into the distance for his brother who was nowhere to be found, while running back and forth around the house.
He shouted until he couldn't shout any longer, before falling down to his knees in front of the empty house, with an endless stream of tears running down his cheeks... He punched his fist into the ground as hard as he could, before lying down on the soft grass from exhaustion, falling into restless sleep as a red sun started to rise in the horizon, marking the beginning of a new day...

Thanks for the compliments guys. Here's chapter two.

Chapter Two: Beginning of a journey

The sun was setting as Flames woke up from his endless nightmares, shivering and with his eyes red from all the crying while he had been sleeping.
He still didn't want to believe that Vince wasn't there... But as he sat up, he froze still for a moment. This wasn't were he had fallen asleep! And as he looked around, he saw that he was back in his room, rather than outside, lying in the grass.
There was also a scent of food in the air, which got Flames up on his feet before he knew it. It had to be him... It had to be Vince!
He rushed out of the bedroom, full of enthusiasm. “Brother you!...” He had made it to half sentence, before making a sudden stop as he came the doorway, when he saw that the person standing there wasn't his brother, so all his happiness was washed away in an instant, turning into anger.
“Who are you?” He growled at the stranger, who had now noticed that Flames had woken up and moved into the center of the room.
“I'm no one special... I just happened to walk by, when I saw you laying there in the grass. So I though that I'd carry you inside and make some food. Unless that's too much trouble for you.” The stranger answered, trying to figure out what the fox-like anthro was thinking.
Flames stood still for a moment, trying to see if the stranger, an anthro wolf, was of any threat to him. After a while, he than asked another question, keeping his voice calm this time. “Why did you do this? Help me, I mean?”
“Can't one show compassion towards other nowadays? Oh well... Your still young... and have much to learn.” The wolf replied, with a saddened tone to his voice.
Flames looked curiously at the wolf, wondering what he had meant with his answer. But before he was able to say anything, the wolf continued speaking.
“Just out of curiosity, why were you having such awful nightmares?”
Flames looked when he heard the sudden question. Had it been that obvious? He put his paw to rub his cheek, noticing that it was still soaked, which meant that he must have been crying through most of the day while he had been asleep.
“It's my brother... He hasn't still come back...” As Flames tried to continue, his voice gave completely out on him, so that he wasn't able to continue as tears started to roll down his cheeks, wetting his orange fur once again.
The wolf took some steps closer to the small fox, and putting a paw on his shoulder.
“It's alright. You'll find him one day... What is your name, child?”
Flames looked up at the wolf who was now standing in front of him, his eyes glowing from all the tears. “It... It's Flames...” He then replied in between sobs.
What a suitable name, the wolf thought. As he looked at the child's orange fur and fiery eyes. And if you looked at it from a certain angle, it looked like he was surrounded in flames... He then looked up from his own thoughts, remembering the food he had made.
“Come, you should eat something. You must be starving by now.”
He then showed Flames to the table where he had put out some food that he had made while waiting for Flames to wake up from his nightmares, because he just couldn't make himself to wake up the poor child who had apparently had a very hard time lately.
Flames sat down at the table, eating what he was given with a healthy appetite, for he hadn't eaten anything the whole day.
Once they had eaten, the wolf gave Flames a serious look. “ You are going to need to train hard before you can find your brother. It's a cruel world out there.”
“So you would teach me then?” Flames said a bit sarcastically as he looked back at the wolf.
“I could... But if so, you are going to have to endure the training and never look back during the time we are training. It will take years to finish the training, and I can understand if you don't want to. But it is the best way.”
The wolf was still as serious as ever when he said this, which made Flames really confused, for the wolf didn't seem to be that powerful. But even though, he accepted the wolfs offer and became his student, training for five long years in difficult terrains, and various different circumstances.
Now he had returned back to his old home to start the journey to find his brother who had so suddenly disappeared one day. Both physically and mentally stronger now, Flames sat off on the road that he had last seen his brother on, and as the sun was shining, it looked that the fields were on fire, but never spreading, as Flames walked through them with a determined look upon his face as he headed towards that, which he had waited for for five whole years.

Chapter three: A heart clouded by darkness

As Flames got closer to the town that his brother had went to all those years ago, he couldn't help but to feel that there was something sinister there, keeping an eye on everyone. So he decided to be aware of his surroundings as he walked into the town, looking around at all the other furs that were walking on the streets, purchasing things  or simply going out for a stroll.
Flames could feel an ominous energy flowing through the town, so he tried to locate the origin of it.
It was a trick he had learned throughout his training, to detect what kind of energy there was flowing in the surroundings, and locating the source of them.
But as he tried to locate the source of the evil presence, he found it odd to say the least, that there was something familiar in it, something that he couldn't quite get in his grasp. He tried to figure out what it was, but still couldn't find the right word to describe it.
Then, as Flames walked into the town square, he could almost touch the evil that came from someone.
As he looked around to see if there was anyone there that looked out of the ordinary, his eyes were caught by a dragon, who was apparently standing in one of the corners of the square, but was behind all the other people, so Flames couldn't get a clear view of him.
But the little that he had seen, he looked so familiar, and he had the the strangest feeling that he had seen the dragon somewhere before.
Flames though to himself. Could it be him? After all these years, could he still be here, although he'd never returned home on that day?
He then nimbly made his way through the crowds, trying not to loose sight of the dragon as he moved forwards. But as he got, he started to feel the evil aura, emanating from somewhere close by, so powerful that he could almost touch it, which made that Flames couldn't ignore it anymore.
He hadn't felt an aura this powerful before, so Flames had to keep his guard up the whole time, while trying to get through the flocking crowds that were covering the town square.
As he had gotten to the other side of the square, he saw that the dragon had started walking down the street, away from the market-like square full of people.
Flames continued to follow the dragon as he walked down the streets, but still keeping his distance as he walked through the swarms of other furs mingling near the stalls.
After a while, the dragon turned down onto an alleyway, cutting off from the main road.
And as Flames turned into the alley just a short while later, he couldn't see anyone there. Did he get away? He thought for himself as he stood in the middle of the alley, lost in his thoughts for a moment unaware of the darkness that was flooding over everything as he stood there, blocking him off from everyone and everything else.
As he then looked up from his strain of thoughts, Flames noticed that everything had become dark and silent, all the noises from the street had just disappeared in an instant.
Then, a scaly paw touched Flames shoulder, making him spin around in an instant. Now being face to face with the dragon that he though to be his brother. And as he now had a good look at him, he could see that there were some resemblances to him.
But there were some differences too. Most of this dragons scales were black, and he had red markings on his body.
Flames' brother hadn't had such dark scales, but the resemblance was still stunning. And as Flames looked at him, he almost jumped back when the dragon started speaking.
“Why are you following me, little one?” The dragon spat out, his words echoing through the darkness.
“I just thought that you looked like someone I know.” Flames answered, trying to maintain his calm while facing the dragon.
“Whom, exactly?”
“My brother...”
“Your brother!?” The dragon laughed at the thought. “A fox and a dragon? How pathetic!” The dragon spat out, mocking the anthro standing in front of him.
Flames tried to keep himself from doing anything irrational as the dragon tried to get a good reason to attack him. But he managed to keep his calm, and found a way to be able to be certain if this really was his brother or not. But the odds was against him if he would be able to make it out of the situation that could come out of it.
But he had to take the chance, because he might not get another one.
Flames trusted himself towards the dragon, using all the power in his hind legs to get enough peed into the movement. And as he had expected, the dragon moved backwards avoiding any serious damage. But Flames had hit his target even though the dragon had been faster than he had expected. He had torn the dragons shirt into two, so that Flames could now clearly see the dragons chest. And much to Flames' shock, there was the exactly same symbol on his chest that his brother had, burning like fire as you looked at it.
The dragon looked down at his torn shirt, a dark force starting to emanate from him.
“You got me there.” He said in a dark tone while still looking down. But then, in an instance, he was out of sight, moving at such speed that Flames was unable to keep up with it. Before trusting his elbow into Flames' stomach, making him kneel in pain while gasping to get some air back into his lungs. But as he looked up, he could see the dragon holding a sword over his own neck, ready to give the finishing blow.
Flames looked in shock at the dragon, whom he now knew to be his brother, holding the sword against him.
“Vince, no...” Flames pleaded, gasping for air.
And just as Vince was about to strike, a small light shone up into the darkness, shedding some light into the darkness, like a flame cutting it down.
A single tear fell down through the dark. Seeming like and eternity before it came to rest on the cold ground.
The darkness had faded away, but so had Vince with it, leaving Flames down on one knee as he looked at the teardrop beside him freeze to an eternal ice that wouldn't melt.
Flames now knew what had to be done. He would go searching for his brother even if it took him to the end of the earth if need be. Because he knew that there was still some hope left. A lone fire in the darkness that now was his brothers heart.

Here is chapter four, giving some more info before the story going back to Flames' situation.

Chapter Four: Remembrance

Vince staggered through the fortress he had been whisked to as the darkness he had created had so suddenly disappeared. He had no idea how it had happened, and the tear stain on his cheek was also of unknown origin to him.
He dropped his sword as he continued to stagger through the empty halls of the dark fortress, but went back to pick it up a minute later. He gave a look at the craftsmanship of it before throwing it out of the window in a burst of rage, making the sword fall down into the  small courtyard surrounding the inner parts of the fortress, and impaling one of the creatures of darkness that were roaming it, killing it in an instant.
The black dragon then made his to the throne room, and sat down on the large chair at the end of the room. He was deep in his own thoughts as he sat down, utterly confused about what had happened just a few moments ago. He had so many questions in his mind that he wanted answers to, but when he tried to think back, all of his memories were from the last five years, and everything before that was just covered in a thick mist that he couldn't see through.
All he could remember was that he had been brought in front of a great anthro dragon, whom everyone referred to as Malakar. And although Vince's memories were somewhat vague about how he had gotten there in the first place, he could remember the happenings from about a year later and to the current date as perfectly as if it had just happened.
As Vince was deep in his own thoughts, a dark flame appeared in front of him. It was the way that Malakar kept in contact with all of his higher ranked warriors.
A pair of red eyes glowed inside the dark fire, emanating an fierce amount of mystery and fear into anyone that wasn't used to it. And the voice that could be heard was dark and had some hissing sounds to it.
“So I see you met your brother today...”
Vince's had shot up and he looked straight into the red eyes staring out of the darkness. “How did he know what had happened today?” He thought to himself. And before he could hesitate, he had opened his mouth and asked.
“Was that really my brother?...” There was some hesitation in his voice as he said it, but Vince wanted to know the answer.
“Yes. It really was your brother.” Malakar answered without hesitation. “But now... I'm not in the need of your emotional side...”
When that was said, Vince suddenly felt like his head was about to burst, so he stood up and put his scaled paws to his head, staggering for a bit before falling down on his knees while trying to struggle against what was happening to him.
But after a while, his fiery eyes turned completely black and he stood up again, as if nothing had happened, and sat down on the chair again.
“Finally! Took you long enough.” Vince said, but his voice was now much darker and cockier this time.
“You know the rules. You can only come out if his emotions are getting in the way.” Malakar then said.
“I know, I know... But seriously, do you think that I want to just sit in the furthest reaches of his mind, while he has all the fun?”
“I think it's better if you stay in charge for a while, so that we can dispose of this... 'Flames' without any more complications”
“Good call. So how should we dispose of him?”
“I think the old fashion way should be enough. Nothing too fancy. He doesn't seem strong enough to withstand much.”
“If that's the way you want it, then it'll be so.”
“Good. Now go and take care of that little runt before he has a chance to do some harm to my plans.”
The dragon nodded and stood up. “As you wish.” He then walked over to the weapon rack, grabbing a double katana, his favorite weapon, and started to make his way towards the balcony.
The fire in the throne room faded away as Malakar had finished talking to the dark entity that was now in control of Vince's body. After this night, no one would be able to stop him.
The entity in Vince knew that he had a long night ahead of him, but the thought of getting to kill someone cheered him up as he took flight. He'd take the as much out of it as he possibly could, and torment Vince with letting him see his brother die in his arms. A perfect revenge for all the times he'd had to just wait for his turn. Now, it was his time to have fun.

:sparkle: Sheer awesomeness brother. This adds a whole new layer to the plot and makes things even more interesting. The use of memory, emotion and evil entities in such a fashion really adds to the story.

Thanks brother.
I've been really productive lately, so here's chapter five and six. Go me!

Chapter Five: An unsuspected gift

Flames was still kneeling in the alleyway, not being able to comprehend what had just happened. He had found his brother, but then he had been beaten badly by him, and was now looking down at a crystallized teardrop.
“How could this happen?” He thought to himself. “The once so gentle and loving dragon that he had loved as his brother. How could this be the same one?”
Flames picked up the teardrop and inspected it closely, wondering what it was for before getting back on his feet again.
“But what could it be for? One teardrop that crystallized itself after being shed.”
There were many questions that bothered Flames, but now was not the time. He had to find his brother again, and make him remember everything. All those times in their childhood that they had had so much fun together. Nothing being able to separate them.
But first, Flames had to find himself a weapon, or he would be defenseless if he had to face someone that had one.
He walked out of the alleyway, letting the sunlight warm him as it danced on his fur, making it glow all the more brilliantly. There has to be a sword smith somewhere in town he thought, so he started looking for one.
After a while of asking around, he finally found a smithy, and made his way inside.
As he stepped into the small smithy, he looked at all the swords hanging on the walls, showing the smiths talents in its full glory.
As Flames looked around, one special sword case caught his eyes. The sword was unlike anything that he had ever seen.
While Flames was looking at the sword, the smith made his way behind him unnoticed because of Flames' attention being on the sword.
“The X-sabre. Truly a piece of art wouldn't you say?” The smith grunted out from behind Flames.
Flames flung around in an instant as he heard someone speaking behind him, facing the Doberman that had been standing behind him.
“It truly is splendid.” Flames replied, trying not to sound too taken aback from the smith sneaking up on him. “Did you do this yourself?”
“That I did. Greatest thing I ever did.” The Doberman looked down at the anthro standing in front of him. Taking a good look at him before continuing. “And I want you to have it. As a gift.”
“What!?” Flames' burst out, not believing what he had just heard. “I can't take it. It is the labor of your finest work. I couldn't possibly...”
“Yes you can. And you will too, before I shove it on you.” The smith started taking down the sword from its case as he spoke.
“But why?” Flames asked, wanting to understand why he was given this magnificent sword.
“Because a wise old fur once told me that I'd give it away to a young lad with fur like fire, needing help on his journey. Of course I thought that he was barking mad. But now I have been proven wrong.” He finished taking down sword, and offered it to Flames. “Here. Take it.”
Flames could but agree to the smiths offer, because he was in the need of a weapon, he simply hadn't been thinking that he'd be given one as magnificent as this one.
“Thank you.”
“Don't mention it. Just promise me that you help your brother, okay?”
Flames looked up at the smith, hearing his words. “How did you?...”
“It's a long story, maybe some other time. Now go. It's getting dark soon. You never know what terrors the night brings with it.”

Chapter Six: A town ablaze

Flames woke up to the sounds of screams coming from throughout the town.
He had found an in to stay in the day before after coming from the smiths shop, and had been sleeping somewhat peacefully until now.
He sat up on the bed, wondering where all the screams were coming from, and made his way to the window, drawing away the curtains so that he could see outside.
As Flames looked out, he couldn't believe what he was seeing. The streets were filled with panicking furs that tried to run away from the town, while others tried to extinguish the fires. The whole town had gone into chaos in mere moments.
Flames quickly pulled some clothes on himself, and grabbing the X-sabre before running
out of his room, making his way out of the inn.
Wondering who in their right mind would do such a thing, Flames ran out into the streets, trying to find out who could do such a horrible thing. Putting a town full of innocent people ablaze with no apparent reason at all...
But as he ran for a while through the burning streets, Flames suddenly heard screams of pain, coming from somewhere nearby. He made his way towards the direction where he had heard the screams from, and before long, he found the reason for the screams.
Flames stopped in shock as he saw Vince cutting down other furs as if they were wheat, but before he could say anything, a dark and grim voice cut through the air.
“So you finally came... I've been waiting for you.”
The dark entity in Vince had noticed Flames' arrival, and was now standing still, looking towards him.
“Brother... How... How COULD YOU!?” The shock in Flames had now turned to anger.
“Because it would draw you out. And frankly. Because you're not my brother.”
“You!...” But before Flames was able to say anything, he noticed that there was something wrong with the whole picture. It was his brother all right standing in front of him, but something was wrong. As he looked at his brother, Flames noticed that his eyes were completely black, and not the usual fiery red that they used to. And that the dragon was emanating a dark glow that was hard to see with the whole town ablaze around them.
Before Flames could come a conclusion about what was happening to Vince, the dragon had lunged himself towards him with an incredible speed, so that Flames had mere seconds to draw out the X-sabre and defend himself. After that, the entity tried to deal a series of quick blows towards Flames, only to see that Flames was parrying most of them. After a while of swords clashing together, the entity saw its chance with Flames' defense growing weaker
while doing some things, so he took his chance and lunged himself towards the fox, making him lose his balance.
Flames stumbled backwards, landing on his rear end as he fell, but managed to keep his defense up while being on the ground, only to have the X-sabre to be thrown away by a powerful blow.
Flames was at out of options. He was both defenseless and had nowhere to run. It looked  this would be where he would meet his end. In the middle of a burning town...
Vince raised his sword and aimed straight for Flames' heart, looking at the scared anthro's face with a devilish grin as a loud explosion went off somewhere in town, only making the dragon grin even more.
But as the dragon was about to pierce Flames with his sword, something started emanating a powerful glow from Flames' pocket, stopping the dragon in his attack.
Flames reached into his pocket and drew out the crystallized tear stain that was now shining blue and emanating a powerful light that was almost blinding.
As Flames looked closer at it, he could see an image inside the small crystal, only to regret looking at it and turning his head the other way, as a small tear formed into his eyes.
Inside the crystal, Flames had seen the image of a young dragon, being tortured over and over again, beaten half to death. The dragon, which was his brother no doubt, chained down in a cell.
The images continued, rolling on and on, one worse than the earlier.
Flames looked over at his possessed brother, seeing him stagger slightly backwards, his eyes starting to go back to their original fiery red, instead of having them filled with darkness.
“Brother. Run! I can't stay in control for long!” Vince shouted out suddenly, while fighting to stay in control of his own body.
“I can't just leave you!” Flames shouted back, sadness in his voice. “Let me help you.”
“The only way of helping me right now is by staying alive. Malakar fears what you will become, so he'll try to kill you by any means necessary. So go already!”
Flames let out a sigh before turning around and starting to run away, leaving his brother behind. He grabbed the X-sabre before running out of sight, and made his way into the dark night as an angry roar could be heard from inside the burning town.

Brilliant continuation, brother. You make me proud...
I find it interesting that you decided that the X-sabre exists in this world too, albeit in a different form. What also intruiges me is "the wise old fur" the smith mentions and how he is related to the storyline. Based on how the smith refers to the old fur, it seems as if the conversation occurred years ago, before Vince vanished and perhaps even before Flames' birth (in this world). It makes one wonder how this old fur knew that such things would happen and that Flames (AKA The Hero Eternal) would re-incarnate and need that weapon...
Hmm...

Thanks for the comments guys. And yeah Flames that was completely my subconsciousness going there. Here's the next chapter. Enjoy.

Chapter Seven: A New Acquaintance

Flames continued running for a while before coming to a halt as the thick forest gave way for an open field. He tried to calm down his breathing as he stood there in the faint moonlight, by the edge of the forest.
He reached for the crystal in his pocket, to have a proper look at it this time, but it had stopped shining as soon as he had gotten further away from his brother. But the memories that were stored inside it, they were the key to releasing Vince from the darkness that was controlling him. That much Flames was sure of.
As he continued to look at it for a while, he came to understand more about the whole situation, from having seen the memories that his brother had somehow forgotten by the  hands of the dark entity controlling him.
It filled Flames with great sadness to know what his brother had had to go through, during the time that he had been tortured. Being tortured over and over again...
Flames shrugged the thought away. He didn't want to get caught up in those thoughts, for there was no changing the past. It was the future that mattered.
Flames had now started to walk again, taking a straight route through the field. He let his paws go over the hay as he walked through, taking in the calmness of the night around him. It had been a while since he had been able to simply take a stroll without having to beat down something at the same time.
As he continued walking, Flames suddenly tripped on something. Or rather someone, that was laying in the middle of the hayfield.
“Watch where you're going!” An angry voice called out from amidst all the hay, making Flames snap out of his thoughts and look around, trying to locate the source where the voice came from.
“I am very sorry about waking you up.” Flames said out, not knowing who he was speaking to. “But I had no idea anyone was laying here, and even less that I would accidentally walk over them.”
“Oh...  guess you're right.” With that, an anthro husky rose up from all the hay, standing mere inches from where Flames' hind leg had been a while ago.
Flames looked at the husky now standing on front of him, trying to identify if he was a possible threat or not before saying anything.
“So why were you laying here in the middle of the field anyway?” Flames then asked.
“What does it matter to you? Not like you would care you care anyway.” The husky answered bluntly, while looking at the anthro that had stumbled upon him.
“And what if I did? What would you do then?”
The husky looked peculiarly at the other and flipped his head to the side while still continuing to look at Flames. “Who are you anyway? Because you sure aren't anyone from around these neighborhoods.”
“Well... I'm not denying the fact that what you say is true, but I am now wondering what makes you say that?”
“Very simple.” The husky said with a mischievous grin. “You're not at my througth by now, trying to cut it open.”
Flames looked slightly confused at the husky. “Oh... But back to your question. My name is HoKaze no Flames, but you may call me Flames. And you then?”
The husky reached out his paw. “My name is Fay. It's nice to meet you Flames, at least considering that it could have been someone who knew me instead.”
Flames circled around Fay, so that he would get a good look of him, trying to understand what he could have done to upset so many, getting them ready to kill him for something he had done. “So what is it that you did exactly, to get them that angry at you?” Flames then asked, after making a full circle around him.
Fay looked at Flames, not quite certain if he should answer, but decided to go for it. Not much he could loose anyway. Right? “Let's just say that seducing all the guys in town isn't all fun and games. At least when it comes to their fathers and pitchforks...” Fay blushed slightly after saying the last part, for because of his playful nature, he had been kicked out of many towns by now.
Flames looked curiously at Fay, trying to grasp what he was saying while still being on his guard. “I guess that's... reasonable...” Flames said, not entirely sure on what to say.
“I guess...” Fay paused for a moment before continuing. “You wouldn't mind me tagging long now, would you hon?” Fay quickly put his paws over his muzzle as he heard what he had just said, cursing his lack of control. “Oh what the hell...” He then thought and gave Flames a quick kiss, keeping a slight distance to him afterwards.
Flames was thrown aback by the sudden kiss from Fay, not being able to comprehend what just happened. “I... You... Wha?...” He then went silent for a moment, trying to gather his thoughts before opening his mouth again and trying to say anything. He took a deep breath and drew out the X-sabre, pointing it at Fay. “Don't EVER, do that again.” Flames voice was very serious when he spoke. “Otherwise I'll kill you myself.”
Fay looked at Flames for a little while before speaking, letting Flames calm down for a moment. “Does that mean I can come?”
Flames just let out a low growl before starting to walk again, not looking back at the husky. His face was completely emotionless, but his mind was still going on at full speed. He could come along as long as he didn't do anything stupid or sudden again. But still... He wasn't all that bad looking either...

Expertly handled, brother. As I said to you earlier, this chapter brought a smile to my face.
