Good question dealing w/metal.
« on: February 29, 2008, 02:45:23 AM »
Does violent music make people violent, or does it just agitate violent people into a frenzy, causing other people pain and discomfort. I have heard that those russian terrorists that took over that movie theater a few years back had been blasting Rammstein the entire time. On questioning about this the band (meaning Rammstein) said that they wouldn't stop making violent music just because it made some peeps more violent than they already were. This isn't just about Rammstein, and hey, i love dark and violent music, but i don't take everything the band sings about and carry it out. your thoughts please.

I agree...I'm not a violent person...I don't listen to some of the messages in songs...but some songs make good points...

What makes those songs violent? From what I've heard it's just loud, not necessarily violent. I don't think any song can be called violent unless they're talking about violent things as the lyrics.

Maybe for some people, but I also think it's possible it could let you release some violent feelings in a harmless way. There's always a chance people can take things like that too seriously though.

Ok this is going to be weird but if you ever heard christian metal I think Hurt is one...I disagree with the whole Metal makes people violent thing...It is only the people that listen to it that gets into a rage. I listen to Metal all the time and no anger at all.

Rammstein is pretty great, but I don't see how that would aid in making people laugh, especially with some of their songs that are funny such as "Bend Over."

Man Attacking Man?

I always thought it was man has man....hmm

well....coming from a fan of Bands such as, The Number 12 Looks Like You, with songs about violent revenge, emotional satisfaction with having carnal relations with someone and then smirking when you see their kid, and dismembering someone who hurts you and using their bowels and limbs as weapons.......yeah....its just music.....

(Also Job For a Cowboy, Knights of the Abyss, Bless the Fall (Christian Metal) Beneath the Sky (Christian again) All That Remains and numerous others)

It goes back thousands of years, from ancient war cries and beats to past cavalry trumpeteers, to even now, with Tank Crews blasting music within their metal beheamoths.....Music is Emotion, Bottled up, subtle, or even just outright there, such as with Metal, and music does put people into a frenzy, but more violent?

Some of the most demented and sadistic murderers in Human History listened to the Master Composers of the European Continent, and suddenly, when kids mow through their school with a hellblaze of fire and lead, or when a couple of already unstable adults level a government building, suddenly its the music, games, people, culture.

Sum of what I typed....I dont beleive Music can make people more violent than they already naturally are.
