Has anyone else had the desire to be a furry online, but not go to cons/meetups? Or am I the only one? It's kinda uncomfortable to be a furry outside of the web.

Well it's a difficult thing to be open about because of the social stigma about it. For furry, straight, gay, or otherwise has been an easy topic to make fun of on the internet. See memes, game sprays ECT. However not everyone is ment to be a suiter. (Aside from being more that some cars) it's a hobby. You could tail and ear up, but that marks you as a fur or an otherkin, and people generally will attempt to mock and belittle you. But the good news is, if you don't let it get to you, it strengthens you. (Btw if this makes like no sence, it's because I'm so tired it's not even funny lol)

But even behind a mask some people don't feel comfortable. I guess that's what I'm trying to say.

I balance it with daily life, it's not relevant for every environment and it's nice to switch it on and off for when I want to do something unrelated to anthropomorphic characters.

For example: I would probably wear my partial to a meetup, but thus far I've only worn my costume to a furry or anime convention. I'm not comfortable walking around in my costume just anywhere.

It's completely normal to keep it as an online thing if that's what you prefer. I don't really make it a part of my regular life and I know plenty of people who do the same.

I would love to be more open about being a furry in real life, but so far I can't really do that because I don't have any way of doing that (I would never be able to afford a fursuit, and I lack the self-confidence for ears and a tail)

I'm a "closet fur" too. I just don't feel the need to tell everyone that I'm a furry. I'd feel weird and awkward as hell in a fursuit, and I have no idea what I could do at furry con other than getting drunk with random people and possibly starting a fight.
