I am so **censor** done with my **censor** laptop.
As an animator, I have to handle many large files and images that I store on my laptop and external hard drive. However, I rarely back it up to my hard drive mainly because 1. It takes a while and 2. It makes sorting files confusing sometimes.
However, that wasn't what pissed me off.
I decided to reinstall Windows since it was acting up recently. So what someone would normally do is to go into the settings and click the reinstall button.
For extremely obvious reasons, I clicked the 'keep my files' option.
HOWEVER, it decided to WIPE EVERYTHING INSTEAD.
Now, don't say that I probably accidentally clicked the second option, I am 100% certain that I didn't.
If I realised that I accidentally did it, then I would blame my own stupidity and ignorance but I did not.
I ran a file recovery application immediately when I realised and processed the situation however I barely recovered anything important but some old files that were nice to get back however otherwise unnecessary. The only important files that I lost that I am mostly impacted on is a few animations that I have worked on for HOURS, some even near completion. A lot of my homework was due last friday so I do not have any school related stuff that I need. It's all personal files.
I'm not really asking for advice now as to how to get all my shit back, but as to how I can cope with this situation.
At this moment, I can either
1. Dump all of it in the past and start from now on, forget about previous animations, and work on newer ones.
OR
2. Take it back and redo everything that I have worked for
