laptop died out :(
« on: June 29, 2016, 02:16:24 AM »
So recently my laptop gave out on me, but in all honesty it's probably my fault xD downloading games and whatnot.
When I start it up it blue screens on me then resets before the start up load screen shows up. I've tried running Windows repair, system restore, safe mode, nothing works. So I'm guessing I've corrupted my windows files and the only way to fix it would be a reinstall of my operating system, but I don't really want to pay 150$ - $200 for another windows disc. I'm curioud if anyone has had this problem before, and if it's resolvable without a reinstall of my OS.

RIP laptop.

I never had that problem before but my advice is: if you don't know a lot about it, do not touch it

I'm probably just going to save up for a better one and use this one for experimental purposes. It just sucks I can't play my games until then xD. I'm browsing on my phone atm haha

Never encountered that error before, or even heard of it.

So sad that the laptop died. Reminded me of when my own laptop died (of motherboard failure). Good luck getting another laptop soon.

I actually have 2 keys on the bottom ( idk why) But they are both invalid for some reason. Which is weird because when I first got the laptop the keys worked fine when I first installed it.
Also, is it possible to boot from USB? Since I can't even get it to turn on idk how I'd be able to run it from a flash drive, let alone Download it on to it.
I appreciate the help :)

one would be a key for windows with product key (they are both in use i would bet) and yes since you need to get into bios boot options and then usb it will boot from that to windows installer

Had the same thing happen to my pc.
Was trying to completely erase and reinstall the system but it failed so basically everything was wiped

I booted mine from usb and now its fine

Get into the bios options, it should display your product key somewhere;navigate the options with arrow keys and space
theres an option somewhere thats called 'boot options'
it should list all the stuff that it can boot from
if it doesnt say USB then turn off your pc, plug a usb in then get into the bios options again
select usb to be the first preference
then you're all done

getting the product key and downloading the recovery image didnt work for me because the download kept stopping at 2%

not a tech person here, only 13 but hope this helps

Having worked in IT... Seems like corrupted OS, yes, though usually it's unfortunately not that easy I'm afraid.

The question here isn't as much why it's not working but rather why Windows stopped working. If it's something simple like a virus then sure go ahead and re-install! However it could be due to anything from a broken RAM module to a failed hard drive or even motherboard.

Is it an old laptop? Because the older it is the more like it's a failing hard drive or possibly a stick of RAM.

If there's any warranty left, definitely message the place you bought it from OR the manufacturer.

Otherwise try doing a simple re-install (I can assist you with that if needed, no need to buy another disc so long you have a serial code). If it still crashes during or shortly after re-installing I'd probably recommend letting a local PC repair shop have a look at it unless you're confident enough to try have a go at it yourself since then it would indeed be a hardware issue.

If you're not all too techy, lemme know if you have a skype or something like so and I could better help you figure out the issue ^_^
