Ive never actually played it but I think you have to have a credit and stuff cause you gotta spend real monies though. Im not sure I guess

Second life does require real money, that's how some people are able to make money on it.  It's kind of like IMVU, you can design clothes, outfits, furs, furniture, poses, games, buildings, and sell them to players for the in game currency.  Then, you can turn around and give the in game currency back to Second Life and they give you the equivalent of real money it equals to (minus a little fee, I'm sure)

then to replenish the in game currency, people like us buy the currency and then buy everyone's stuffs. ^.^  It's actually the exacty same thing as IMVU, except there's more interaction, but I hate the interface with a passion.
