Like with any other mountain, every time I see it, always covered with snow.
From what I know, it's a dormant volcano, right behind it (not visible) is Mt. St. Helens, which erupted in 1980, 5 years before I was born.
It's a bit small on the photo from my front yard (just barely visible above that white home with grey roof, just to the left of the tree, between 2 power lines)

We do, not too frequently though, the last major one I remember was on Feb 28th, 2001. I was in school back then, eating lunch.  XD
They are more common in the west coast, many have occurred in the east coast and  central part of USA as well. Most active one is in California.
The strongest one I felt was when I lived in Anaheim CA in 1994 (Northridge quake)
