Erdogan is establishing a theocracy, a nation led by religion.

The coup, if he was done by Erdogan-opposers, was done because they wanted to modernize Turkey and make it a Western-World style nation

That does make sense. People are supposed to have the power, you can't supress them forever.

However, it does smell like a false flag operation.
The people behind the coup themselves were not that much of them.

Let's just hope peace returns soon. Too many people have died already.

This is now my assumption but I think that for peace it is way too late.

Erdogan has dismissed 2000 judges that were against him and is replacing them by judges who are pro-erdogan.
He also wants to reintroduce death penalty for those who comitted the coup or were part of it.
Nothing says more authoritarian than this
