That would be awesome. I remeber that scene where the bad guy (what was his name?) Had half of his face blown off and he went into that machine and it was miraculously fixed.

Any invention can and likely will be misused. But since a machine like this doesn't exist, we can't know. This is just a thread on the Internet, after all.

A fairly cheap Spaceship complete with an FTL Drive powerful enough to jump solar-systems.

I firmly believe good spaceflight would easily improve things no end. Effectively infinite resources? check. more space for people to live. Eventually check. As resources and space become non-issues war would also decrease short term, as then the only things left to fight about are ideology. Which, bluntly, is very rarely the reason for real wars.

You just need something that can warp spacetime in the negative direction. Antimatter as a fuel would prove to be the most efficient also. Negative warping of space is not faster than light, however the time you feel on the spaceship would be slower than on earth due to general realtivity. Or you vould find a way to open a wormhole, but we dont really know how to do that. Black holes could work. Einstein's black holes, which he theorized to be perfectly round are impossible to enter without infinite g forces. However, in this universe most black holes are thankfully spinning black holes, and are not perfectly round. Spinning black holes look like discs, and if you enter a spinning black hole perpendicular to its disc, the g forces will not be infinite. Ultimatly, this is all just speculation, but it might actually happen if we reach the status of a type 2 civilization.
