I was in USMC sniper school for a week, theres a LOT of math involved in making a successful killshot.
I can only imagine:
Gravity
Wind (multiple currents if at longer range)
Aim-off angle
Leading
Air resistance (nil, but important anyway)

...Now I want to do a physics problem.

Yeah, people in COD are thinking its wherever you point it, it goes with every gun, not just snipers, its just that snipers are the only one who HAVE to do it...

Battlefield Bad Company 2 follows some of the basic bullet falling effects. Aim for the head you get a throat-torso shot, aim above and get a clean headshot.

Wait Isn't the L96A1 and L115A3 Made for the finnish snipers?
Those guys are pretty sick too, they have to learn to control breathing in sub zerp temps where they cant see their breath, constatly.
Plus the L96 and L115 are made for cold too.

A bullet travels over a mile, then you're gonna have forces acting upon it that will make a difference.

Yeah, not as easy as the video game industry makes it out to be, that's for sure.

You don't have to get to complex until you start getting in the 500 meter + ranges.
Yeah but thats 1,500 ft... Still, in Afghanistan they had a British sniper do it from just under a mile,
He took out a two man MG crew, then shot the gun for kicks.

Yeah, Call of Duty has zero realism. Battlefield uses realistic effects, destruction and no willy-nilly airstrikes. But no game can recreate war, unlike Arma2.

I love on COD you can open up with a machine gun, empty an entire belt mag, and the barrels still intact.
